It was currently four o'clock in the morning. Most of the guests had already left, with the exception of Leighton's closer friends who stuck around to help him clean up a little.
He stared tensely at the garage door, not sure of what'd be out there regarding Kacie and Cody. He wasn't sure if they were going to hate him after this, or really hate him after this.
Slowly, he cracked the door open as the light of the pantry crept into the cold garage.
Kacie and Cody were on the bottom step, asleep in each other's arms with Cody's hoodie slung across the both of them.
Leighton goofily smiled. They had to of made up if they fell asleep in that position.
Quietly, his feet tapped down the stairs as he slowly crouched down and put a hand on Kacie's shoulder, gently shaking it.
The girl immediately looked up at him, she must've only been half asleep as her warm hazel eyes struck his dark brown ones. Her hand was wrapped around Cody's arm.
"Get him a blanket, please." she asked, softly. Afterward, she left the hoodie with Cody and sprawled it over his bare arms.
Leighton hadn't realized how cold it'd been in the garage as he nodded and helped her up, sending her off to her room as he then went to wake up Cody.
Cody was a little bit easier to wake up, since he didn't really have to be gentle with him. They wrestled and hit each other all the time when they were younger, what was going to stop him now?
He quickly slapped Cody's cheek a few times as his eyes shot open and went cold as soon as he saw Leighton.
Before Cody started drilling Leighton about why the hell he locked him in a garage, he instantly questioned, "Where's Kacie?"
"She just went to bed." Leighton replied, curious about all the details, and if they made up like he planned and hoped.
"Oh, okay," he exhaled, shivering as he stood up and slipped his hoodie back on. Leighton's hand rested against his back as he led him back up the stairs and into the kitchen.
Cody wasted no time to grab a water and crash out on the couch, but glared at Leighton and told him they were not okay before he went back to sleep.
Leighton shrugged it off, Cody's been excusing his antics since 2017. Besides, if he was going to get Kacie and Cody back together, they had to start somewhere, right?

Kacie had a hard time falling back asleep once she left the freezing garage.
Her and Cody had to have fallen asleep a little bit after midnight, because she vividly remembered everyone behind the garage door cheering and blowing their own party horns together in the garage.
It wasn't long after until they really started to shiver and doze off together, all while trying to share Cody's hoodie together as a makeshift blanket.
The girl put her hood over her head as she flipped over in bed.
She knew she wasn't falling asleep anytime soon, so she decided to get up, take off her makeup, and change into some leggings instead of the small blue cocktail dress she still had on under her sweatshirt.
It was the first time in a week that she even had any motivation to get up and do any of this. Maybe it was the Cody effect.
She knew how dangerous Cody's personality was, though. You talk to him for a good fifteen minutes and he could easily become your best friend or favorite person. She knew that better than anyone else.
