2 Months Later
Redwood Academy-
After hearing that Redwood Academy was under attack, The Paramounts ventured to that location to lend a helping hand, accompanied by Doyoung and Ten as their chaperones.
For the past two months, Renjun and his many teammates worked together to save all of the possessed heroes, as well as to put a stop to Tristin's attacks. Because they worked together, they were able to save nearly all of the possessed heroes, making Ethora a lot safer for its inhabitants. They only had a few heroes left to save, and conveniently, they were all at Redwood Academy.
Upon arriving at the academy, they found the last few possessed heroes terrorizing the campus; among the possessed was the retired former number one hero, Iron Bolt. The group took care of the other heroes easily, but Doyoung and Ten struggled with Iron Bolt. Eventually, Xinrei had to help them out, while the remaining Paramounts kept the other students and staff safe.
They had a much easier time bringing Iron Bolt down once they started working together. Ten used Chittaphrr to bind the larger male, while Xinrei used his Superhuman power to increase his own strength to stun Iron Bolt. Doyoung shot a single bullet, and his Stand aided him in destroying the earring that controlled him.
With all of the controlled heroes beaten and saved, Redwood Academy, as well as the other residents of Ethora, could now live with a bit more peace.
"You guys did an amazing job Rei~"
"You sure did. The last time anyone on our team encountered Iron Bolt like this was years ago, when our fathers and uncles had to go off planet and travel to other worlds and galaxies"
Junsung added to Xinya's comment.
"That's right. We were all attacked at the HDJ many years ago, and those of us that hadn't been taken over had to leave Ethora until they were strong enough to return and save the rest of us"
Ten explained, reminiscing on the past event.
Before the group could console or reassure the students and staff that they were safe, one of the twins' bullies approached them. He looked upset, as if he didn't see what he expected to come out of the fight.
"That was cool and all, but none of you used your full potentials in that fight. You especially held back too much Xinrei. Why not unleash that inner demon of yours to take Iron Bolt down? You all had your chance, but you missed it entirely due to sympathy and mercy-"
Before he could continue, Xinrei slapped the boy right across the face, causing him to fall to the ground.
Xinrei then got down to his level and lifted the boy up by the collar of his shirt, none of his teammates moving an inch to stop him.
"How many times do you expect me to go through this? I wont use my full power unless I have to. There are much bigger enemies afoot in this world, and I will not waste my power on heroes that are being controlled against their will. And I most certainly won't waste my power on people like you Zachary. As for my demonic powers, I'm not limited to just those abilities; I refuse to be viewed as nothing more than just a demon"
"You may not want to be viewed that way, but there will always be those that will still see you as such Xinrei, including me"
"That may be, but know this. I'm not a bad demon, and like my father, I only want to help those around me. And as much as I may hate to admit it, that includes you Zachary"
Xinrei then let go of his shirt and let him drop back down to the ground.
The demon boy then walked off ahead of the group, moving father away from the campus with his hands in his pockets.
"You know what Zachary, you should learn to mind your own business and fuck off once in a while. I don't know how much you helped out before we showed up, but I know Xinrei helped more than you ever could"
Nitro scolded the boy before running off to catch up with his brother.
Xinya gave Zachary a mean glare before joining Nitro as well. The other kids chose to stay behind with Doyoung and Ten to make sure everyone was unharmed.
-
"Hey Rei! Wait up man!"
Nitro and Xinya were trailing behind their brother, but Xinrei stopped and turned to face them so they could catch up.
"Oppa.. Please don't let what Zachary said get to you too much. You already know how he is.."
"Don't you two worry. I'm not worried about him"
Xinrei reassured the two, gently patting his sister on her head.
"Really?? Then..why did you suddenly storm off?"
"Well.. You know... Being a demon still worries me. It's like Zachary said, there will always be people who will never view me as anything else but a demon. It's not like dad's situation. He's part angel and part demon. In the end, I can't try to be something I'm not, and I can never be anything else but a demon"
The boy explained, causing his brother to sigh.
"Rei.. You have been and always will be more than just a demon. You're our brother, and you have a huge family that genuinely loves and cares about you. To us, you're more than your background and your abilities. Even if you were powerless, nothing would change a thing about how we feel about you. We'll always love you no matter what you are, or what you do. And we'll always be by your side"
"Couldn't have said it better myself~"
Xinrei suddenly got a familiar feeling in his heart, just from being alone with his siblings in their tender moment.
He always feels something similar whenever he's with them, but this time, it was a feeling he's only felt once before when they were still very young. Back when he, Nitro, and Xinya hung out a lot, he got a feeling of security and an unexplainable love and adoration for the two. Back then, it made him cry because he didn't fully understand what he was feeling.
But now, Xinrei could only smile at the two, happy to be with them, happy that they genuinely loved and cared for him, and happy that they were able to make him feel secure like Renjun and Suko do.
"Come on. Let's get back to the others and head for HQ. We've got a lot of people waiting for us"
Xinrei led the two back towards the campus, his smile still plastered on his face.
As they walked back together, Xinrei continued to think to himself. He thought about how good things were, despite the situation they still had to take care of with Tristin. Just the thought of the man made him worry about Renjun. Losing him again, or anyone else in his family, shook him down to his very core. But he would never let anyone see that worried side of him.
He only hoped for the best regarding the future, and promised himself that he'd do his best to keep those dear to him safe.
