Chapter 11

The teams lined up for the tip off. Sumio and Shoji got ready to jump. The referee threw the ball in the air, and with that, the game begun.

Seishin got the ball first and immediately, Sumio ran straight to the basket expecting a pass.

The ball arrived shortly in his hand and with authority, he dunked the ball into the hoop making the crowd erupt in cheers.

The cheering was short lived for Seinshin as Shojo returned the favor with a dunk of his own.

Back and forth the two captains would go, occasionally getting their teammates to score.

However, everyone in the building, including the coaches, knew this was going to be a battle between Sumio and Shoji.

At the end of the first quarter, the score was 26-22 Seinshin lead.

"Sumio, I'm taking you out for now." His coach said.

"What?! You can't do that! I'm just getting warmed up!"

"This game is too close, and we need you later, so sit tight."

He sighed, maybe it was for the best. Shoji was sitting out too. Both of them had eleven points.

The teams continued to battle. Without the two stars however, the score didnt build much.

By halftime it was only 37-34 Seishin.

Yōu glanced at the scoreboard and shook her head.

"That idiot needs to get back in the game and score!" She paced back and forth.

"Yōu-chan! He's obviously doing his best." Riko said defending him.

"Well then his best isn't enough!" Tsuki said as she also paced with her cousin.

"Are we watching twins or?" Shintaro joked.

"I think Sumio can do it if we cheer louder!" Chika grinned.

Uranohoshi emerged from their locker room and Shoji and Yōu's eyes made contact.

He mouthed, "Can I talk to you?"

She walked over, "What do you want?"

"I need to talk to you after the game. Please." He said seriously.

"I'll consider it." She said before returning to her seat.

The second half began just then.

Sumio was on the court taking on Shoji. As the two continued to attempt to one-up each other, the score also increased.

56-55 Seishin.

Pretty much out of breath waiting for a free throw, Shoji walked up to Sumio.

"Does Yōu talk about me?" He asked.

"No, she hates you."

"Well I really need to talk her."

"I don't see how that's my problem."

"So I want to ask you if you can help me."

"I was given orders to absolutely destroy you guys today. So I'm afraid I cannot help."

"From Yōu?"

"Indeed."

"Listen, I really like Yōu, it's just Tsuki is nice and all..."

"Bastard." He muttered. "You knew how Tsuki felt, and still betrayed her. Do you realize how much that hurt her?"

"But she's over it. She told me she is, and she supports me in trying to get Yōu."
