Chapter 31

"You know, I've been thinking!" Chika sat down with Yōu and Riko at their usual cafeteria spot.

"That's a bit dangerous don't you think?" Yōu teased her.

"Shut up!" the airhead attempted to swat her friend with her hand. "I was thinking that we haven't been able to hang out lately."

"What are we doing right now then?" 

"Should be eating." Riko said. "But yeah, outside of school we haven't really done much." 

"And I know why!" Chika's eyes darted towards her target. Her pink eyes clashed with a pair of blue. "It's your fault!" she pointed her chopsticks in the direction of Yōu.

"Me?" She stared at Chika like she was crazy. "First of all, there should be no one at fault, and second, how is it mine?!"

The mikan girl stroked her non-existent beard, "Hohoho... you see I've been watching you!"

"I never thought I'd have to file a restraining order on my best friend." 

"You see there's one common factor that keeps you from hanging out with us... and it's right over there!" her chopsticks pointed to a new target, across the cafeteria to someone who just walked in.

Yōu's eyes were filled with terror as she saw the person she was pointing too. Sumio had just walked into the cafeteria with Shintaro and Tsuki. 

But this was Chika they were talking about... surely she has no clue... right?

"Oh!" Riko nodded in understanding.

The gears in Yōu's head were turning at a fast pace. Had Riko figured it out?!

"-it's Tsuki-chan... you're right." Riko finished as Yōu let out a sigh of relief.

"Nope!" A smile grew on Chika's face as she carefully eyed Yōu. "Not Tsuki!"

"What are you talking about Chika... obviously it's Tsuki-" Yōu tried to convince her... but it was to no avail.

"So it's Shintaro?" Riko questioned. Making Yōu breathe a breath of fresh air once again.

The silver-haired girl stared intensely at Chika who just grinned mischievously at her. Yōu shot a death glare at Chika, as if warning her that she'd kill her if she actually revealed who it was.

It was no use.

"It's not Shintaro..." Chika said a hint of a smile on her face making Yōu's face turn red from anger.

"So it's Sumio?" Riko looked at Yōu questioningly. 

"U-uh..."

"Ding ding ding!" Chika nodded her head. "Right on the money!"

"And... why's that?" Yōu now felt an immense pressure on her. She was trapped. 

"U-uh... um... it's b-because I-I'm..."

"Hey Yōu! Can we please end our study session a bit earlier today? I have somewhere to go." Sumio said passing their table.

"Huh? What? Oh yeah sure." she responded.

"Great thanks!" Sumio grinned as he headed off to the lunch line.

"Oh... so that's all it was? Have you guys been studying after school?" Riko asked, her questioning gaze faded from her eyes.

"Yeah, he said he needs to do good on the exam so he could get some scholarship or whatever." she shrugged.

"But the exams are next week aren't they?"

"It's okay, I have it under control! No need to worry!" Yōu flashed her a smile.

Before gym class, Yōu and Chika were changing in the locker room.
