"'Nii-chan... 'nii-chan!" Haru Kobayashi knocked on her older brother's room. "We're late for school!" As Sumio groggily rolled out of bed, he attempted to put on his uniform.
Suddenly, he felt his head throbbing with pain and collapsed on the ground. "'Nii-chan!" his little sister opened the door.
His face was all red and he was sweating a lot. She felt his forehead, "You're burning up. Are you alright?"
"When did we get to the hot springs?" he asked delusional, believing he had been transported to the warm springs of the mountains instead of the cold wintry nightmare outside.
"Get back in bed. Mom and Dad are already at work." she said attempting to pick him up and put him on his mattress.
"Sleeping is for the weak!" he said standing up. "As the greatest basketball player of all time, I will not let you take away my vacation at the hot springs!"
"You're not at the hot springs! You're sick!" she shoved him unto his bed. Quickly, she took her phone and dialed the school.
After telling the office her brother wouldn't be at school that day, she brought him a cool washcloth to put on his forehead.
"Ahhhh..." he relaxed, "Why are you in the sauna Haru? This is only supposed to be for the guys."
She ignored his comment before heading to the kitchen. She was going to be late for school anyways, might as well care for her brother for a little while.
Being the incredible little sister she was, she made porridge for him. She attempted to feed it to him, but he refused saying, "Milk is the only thing you should have after being in the sauna." Giving up, she headed off to school, leaving him behind.
Yōu Watanabe sat in class attempting to listen to the lecture. It was only their second subject of the day, but she was already having a hard time keeping her eyes open.
She glanced around the classroom, Sumio wasn't there today. Her guess was he skipped out on their test later that day. Riko was taking notes, Chika was peeling another mikan, and Shintaro was asleep.
At lunch when Tsuki and Yōu were in line, the sailor's daughter spotted someone. "Haru-chan!" she waved.
"Oh! Yōu-senpai!" she walked over. "Is something wrong?"
"No, I was just gonna ask where your brother is. Is he skipping out on our test today?"
"Nope, he's at home sick. He was burning up, but I don't know how he got it. He has a pretty bad immune system if you ask me, just the slightest bit outside and he's out for the day."
Yōu paused, did a double take, and came to a realization: yesterday when they were stuck in the small courtyard.
"O-oh!" she said scratching her head, "Is he doing okay?"
"He believes he's in a sauna at the moment." she shrugged, "That's a good depiction of where his minds at."
"Oh..." she said guiltily, she didn't know why she felt that way. It was his fault for not keeping the door open! But still... "Um, if you want I can come over after school today."
"That'd be great!" Haru's eyes lit up. "You're a life saver! I actually have somewhere to go today!"
"Alright then, see you after school." she said returning to her table.
She relayed the information to everyone as she ate her lunch.
"Sounds like him." Tsuki took a swig of water.
"He gets sick at least once every winter. And every time he recovers he says 'Next year I won't even step outside in the cold!'" Shintaro grinned.
"I hope he's doing okay." Riko said thoughtfully.
