The feeling in the air was intense. Both sides wanted to say something, yet no words were spoken.

"Alright... well since you two are generally good kids, I'm just gonna trust you guys to get coffee real quick." The teacher in charge of detention said before leaving the room.

As the door shut, Sumio stared at Yōu for what seemed like an eternity.

She could feel his eyes on her, but she refused to look.

How did she get stuck in detention? And with him of all people?

It was like the universe wanted something to happen.

So then... why did the universe have to have Riko like him too?

Meanwhile, on the other side. Sumio continued to stare.

Kotori's words rang in his head...

"You'll figure it out tomorrow." He muttered to himself.

Unfortunately the fool didn't realize that's not what she meant. In fact, he was making it harder for him to talk to Yōu.

He decided to say something. He opened is mouth, trying to find the right words.

"Lovely weather we're having?" he offered.

Yōu sweat dropped. "You try too hard." she gave into him.

"That's cause you were making it hard to talk to you." he responded smiling.

She rolled her eyes, "And why were you trying to talk?"

"Because I wanted to see if we were still friends." he admitted.

She thought for a moment. Of course she wanted to be friends. Hell, she wanted to be more than friends. It's just... a very unfortunate situation she had been placed in.

"Did you think we weren't?" She asked.

"Maybe." He admitted. "But I didn't want anything that I said change a single thing."

"Eh..." was all she could respond with. "It's not like I didn't like you." She whispered.

He could sense some sort of emotional feeling from her.

It made him uncomfortable.

"Huh? Did you say something?" Sumio tilted his head closer.

"Nope! I didn't say anything!" She replied quickly.

Sumio half smiled, he had heard her. Loud and clear.

"Man... it would've been nice to have a cute girlfriend like you." He sighed laying back in his chair.

"Shut up!" Yōu threw her book at him. "I liked it better when you were quiet."

"That's the Yōu I know." He grinned.

Yōu stood up, "Do what you want, I'm outta here." She walked out of the door.

"Three... two..." Sumio counted down. "One..."

"I forgot we were in detention." She said quietely as she walked back into the room.

"What's wrong? Thought you were leaving?" He said smugly, expecting a pouty response.

But she said nothing, shooting him only a death glare.

It made him satisfied either way.

There weren't many exchanges after that, the teacher came back and silence fell upon the small room once again.

When their jail time was up, they were permitted to return to their classroom.

"We thought you died or something!" Chika ran over and hugged Yōu.
