The trio arrived at the Watanabe residence shortly. Yōu ran up to the front part of her household and opened the door with her key.
"Nobody's home so it should be fine." She said stepping in.
"Sorry for the intrusion." Sumio said taking off his shoes.
"You got any food?" Tsuki asked barging in.
"It's where it always is." Yōu said before going upstairs. "I'm going to change, don't come upstairs."
"Ok." Sumio and Tsuki replied.
"Hmm… what is Sumio-kun thinking of right now?" Tsuki grinned, "Maybe thinking of Yōu changing upstairs right now?"
"Yeah right."
"I'm always right."
"No you're not."
"What are you guys arguing about now?"
"N-nothing." Sumio and Tsuki said quickly.
"Uh… ok?" Yōu shrugged. "Alright, we already covered everything except math so let's do that. Open up your books and start doing these problems."
The three of them continued to do their work and before they knew it about two hours had passed already. It was now about five and someone was… hungry to say the least.
A growl sound filled the room as Yōu and Tsuki looked up startled.
"My bad," Sumio smiled sheepishly. "I haven't eaten anything since lunch."
"I guess it can't be helped." Yōu said standing up. "What do you guys want to eat?"
"What?" Sumio said quickly, "No it's okay you don't have to cook, I'll just go back to my place and eat."
"I want curry!" Tsuki raised her hand.
"All right, but you have to help Tsuki." Yōu said completely ignoring Sumio.
The two Watanabe girls headed off to the kitchen getting ready to prepare the dish. Sumio quickly followed behind.
"Let me help."
"Can you cook?" Yōu asked.
"I can try."
"You tried before and failed." Tsuki sighed, "Remember? You failed at making toast."
"The toaster is a very complicated device!" Sumio protested.
"You can help us by going and watching tv." Yōu pointed Sumio back into the living room.
Sumio obeyed and returned back and sat down on the couch awaiting the meal.
Few minutes later he sat at a table with a plate of steaming rice and piping hot curry in front of him.
"Thanks for the meal!" He grinned before digging in. "Wow this tastes incredible Yōu!"
"Thanks, there's plenty more so eat up." She said before beginning to eat as well.
"Um excuse me, where's my 'Thank you Tsuki-chan' you know cause I helped make it." Tsuki said.
Sumio didn't respond, he was too busy devouring his meal.
"I guess the husband only responds to the wife." Tsuki said while Yōu blushed furiously. Sumio had no reaction as once again, he wasn't listening.
They three ate in silence for a while before the front door opened. "Yōu? Can you turn on the coffee maker?" Her father called from the other room.
"Already on it."They sat there eating for a while, everyone was starving so the silence was expected. All three of them were so concentrated on the food when suddenly a voice filled the room.
“Hello?”
“Oh hey Dad,” Yōu said looking up.
"Woah woah, I didn't know there was a party going on right now." He grinned, glancing at Sumio. "Oh yeah I heard some pretty big news about you."
"Me?" Sumio pointed at himself.
"Yes, Mr. Basketball star himself." He laughed, "Going to Singapore to play for university? To a school where a lot of players turn pro? Awesome."
"Yep!" Sumio grinned proudly. "If I pass my exam I'll play there for four years on scholarship!"
"And then go pro next?" Mr. Watanabe asked as he grabbed his own plate of curry.
"Hopefully." Sumio said while taking a sip of water.
Yōu and Tsuki stood still. Frozen.
Yōu was trying to process what she had just heard. Sumio? Going to Singapore?
Tsuki was the first to respond. "Wait, like you're leaving Japan?"
"For a little bit, I'll still come back sometimes."
"You're going to be gone after this year?" She continued.
"Yeah, assuming I pass my exams." He smiled, "But Yōu over here is helping me a ton. Isn't that right Yōu-"
His eyes wandered over to Yōu, but she neglected him. She merely sat there, expressionless.
Suddenly a phone rang. "Ah! Sorry! I gotta take this." The head of the Watanabe household said standing up and exiting the room.
"Um-" Sumio began.
The blue-eyed girl got up from the table. "I'm gonna go upstairs for a bit." She said before leaving quickly.
"I'm gonna follow her…" Tsuki said quickly, not too far behind her cousin.
Sumio sat alone. The curry was growing cold. His ever present appetite vanished.
"Did I… say something wrong?"
***
Yōu Watanabe threw the covers of her bed over herself. She felt sick to her stomach.
Tsuki rolled her over and threw herself under the sheets as well.
"Y-Yōu…"
"Don't even say it." Yōu said with her face stuffed into her pillow. "I don't want to hear it."
"Shouldn't you at least-"
"Do you think he would've ever told us?"
Tsuki stopped for a moment and rolled over. "Of course he would, maybe he just wanted to pass the exams."
"With my help." Yōu finished. "Well guess who's not getting help anymore?"
"Don't be like that." Tsuki sighed. "You know that's not what you're gonna do."
"What, are you a mind reader or something?"
"You're going to do the right thing and that's helping him still."
"I don't want to help someone just so they leave me." Yōu said quietly. "Especially him."
"Don't you think you're being selfish?"
"Don't you think he should've told us?"
"Well at least he told us now." Tsuki said thoughtfully, "So now make the best of it. Stop being so stubborn and do something about it."
Yōu rolled over, "Why do you all of sudden get to be the mature one?"
Her cousin smiled, "I've always been the mature one."
She was right, Yōu knew that she didn't have much time, but…
At least he wasn't leaving tomorrow?
Gonna keep this short but hopefully you guys enjoyed this chapter and I'll see you all in the next one!
