“So, what do you say?”

The sunset glistened in the distance. Yōu Watanabe could hardly believe what she was hearing. Was this really Sumio Kobayashi speaking right now?

If you had told her that she would wind up in this situation, Yōu would have called you insane. After all, she could hardly believe this herself. But to be fair, school festival week is no ordinary week.

In order to understand all of it though, you’d have to go back about a week and a half.

Sumio Kobayashi had never concentrated more in his entire life. The questions on the paper once seemed like a foreign language to him. Looking at them now however, it was like he had been doing them his entire life.

Finally after grueling exams, he received an email detailing the decision of the university.

He had passed.

With a ton of breathing room to be exact. It was all thanks to Yōu.

At least for most of it. She still hadn't talked to him at all. He couldn't exactly tell why she was avoiding him.

Then again, he was the same old dense Sumio.

He didn't have time to dwell on that thought as it was finally festival week! His final year in high school and he wanted to make sure he lived it up to the fullest.

The next day was the Friday before festival week. His class was running a café.

Unfortunately for Sumio the theme they voted on was…

A boys café.

"Awww, look at how cute you are!" Chika crowed.

"Very cute!" Riko joined in as they stared at Sumio with a made costume complete with a skirt.

Luckily the room was just Sumio, Riko, Chika, and Yōu so no one could see the popular basketball star dressed as a maid.

"I look like a cross dressing freak." He groaned.

"Hey Yōu what do you think?" Chika asked.

"I'm kind of busy right now." She responded, which to be fair was true.

Yōu was entrusted with taking care of all the costumes for their class. Currently, she was constructing another maid outfit for another guy in their class.

"You can't take one peek at Sumio?" Chika teased a bit.

She glanced over for a split second, "He's in a dress yeah."

"Aww come on. Doesn't he look so cute?"

"Yeah yeah super cute." She said not looking up.

"Did you and Yōu have a fight?" Riko whispered.

"Not that I know of." Sumio shrugged.

"Then why's she acting that way towards you?" Chika also whispered.

"Um… are you sure she's being that way just to me?"

"Hey Yōu?" Chika turned towards the girl.

"Yes Chika?" She quickly put her stuff down and walked over, "Did you need me?"

"Nothing actually, I was going to say that the dress was nice."

"Oh, thank you!"

"See?"

"No no, watch this." He said confidently. "I promise we're on good terms. See? Hey Yōu?"

He was ignored.

Sumio realizing that Yōu was in fact acting differently towards him, was indeed heart broken.

"What did I do to deserve this?" He asked the other two.

"Well, what did you do?"

"I can't think of anything, all I did this week was study for exams."

"And you did goof congrats! Where are you even applying to?"

"Oh, that's right I haven't told you guys yet. I've been given a scholarship to play basketball abroad in Singapore. And since I passed the entrance exam I will be going to school there." He smiled.

"Ah!" Chika smiled, "So that's why…"

"That's why what?" Sumio questioned.

"Uhhhh… I don't really want to be the one to explain it." Riko sighed.

"You really are dense aren't you?" Chika face palmed.

Sumio was insulted, when Chika manages to catch on before you do, you know you're dumb.

"Did you tell Yōu about going to Singapore?" Riko asked.

"Um, well she sort of found out." He said scratching his head.

"You're a lost cause." Chika and Riko patted his back. "Have fun."

"You're leaving me?"

"This is a you problem is it not?" Riko grinned.

"You could say it's a Yōu problem." Chika burst out laughing.

"That wasn't funny." Riko sighed.

"C'mon it was pretty funny." The two left the room.

Leaving Sumio and Yōu in the room.

Alone.

"Do you need any help?" Sumio broke the silence.

No response.

"Listen, I'm sorry for not telling you earlier." Yōu could hear his genuine voice. She put down her sewing gear and looked at him for the first time.

"Why didn't you tell any of us?"

"I just didn't really think it was a big deal, but now that I passed it's all coming full circle. But I'm truly sorry I didn't tell you all sooner." He bowed.

"I guess it can't be helped." Yōu sighed, "You're just dumb old Sumio."

"At least we have time left right?"

"Hm… I suppose so." Yōu said before continuing to work on her dress.

They sat in silence once again. This time, the atmosphere wasn't as tense. It was quite calming.

Just as Sumio was about to go, Yōu broke the quiet.

"Do you still like me?"

Sumio froze, then turned slowly. "Oh yeah… when you rejected me." He laughed, "Haha I get it, that was kind of dumb of me to like you-"

"You didn't answer the question."

Sumio looked at Yōu, the serious glance that she gave him stunned the teen.

Hope you guys enjoyed! Alright im going to sleep...
