Chapter 32

"Riko wait!" Yōu said, chasing after her.

Riko didn't listen and continued to storm away.

Yōu stopped completely saddened. She had hurt her friend, she swore to her that she would help her get closer to Sumio. Now, she ruined it.

"No!" Chika said suddenly causing Riko to stop and turn around stunned.

Yōu also looked at her friend in surprise.

"This is not what should happen!" She continued, "Riko you're not allowed to run away until you hear it from Yōu herself! We're going to sit down and talk about it!" She declared.

"Chika…" Yōu said, "let her go."

"No." She walked over and took a hold of Riko's hand. There was no fight from Riko either, she did want an answer.

"Let's go." Chika said taking them up the stairs to the rooftop.

Nobody said anything for the first few moments, which really annoyed the hell out of Chika.

"Go on… we're all friends aren't we?" She beckoned.

Yōu winced. Maybe they were friends for now…

"Yōu, go first." Chika nodded at her.

"Okay, well what do you want to hear?" She asked.

"Don't ask me, ask Riko."

"The beginning."

She took a deep breath, "Well… I only started talking to him because you asked me to help him. And we became friends, I actually called him my guy best friend."

She continued to tell everything. She didn't have anything to hide, she wanted to show Riko that it was all just a misunderstanding.

"So there." Yōu concluded, "I'm done."

"But you're missing something." Riko said quietely.

"What?"

"When did you start liking him?" She asked curiously.

"W-what are you talking about?" Yōu turned away, feeling herself turn red.

"Yōu…" Chika said, signaling got her to be honest.

She sighed in defeat, "I guess when we started training for basketball. I'm really sorry Riko, I wanted to just get rid of these feelings and try to continue to get you guys together."

Riko smiled softly, which surprised Yōu. "I'm not mad, I just wished you told me sooner."

"R-really?"

"But that doesn't mean I'll just give him to you." She added quickly. "I'm still going to do my best to win in the end."

"Huh?"

"So may the best girl win." Riko said, starting to head back downstairs.

"Wait so…"

"I'm saying that you don't need to help me, go help yourself for once." She smiled before continuing.

Yōu turned to Chika, confused. "What just happened?"

"Looks like you need to step up your game in order to get Sumio!" She smiled, also heading back to class.

"What are you two talking about?!"

"How dense can you be?" Chika laughed before closing the door behind her.

As Yōu tried to open the door herself she realized it was locked.

"YOU HAVE GOT TO BE JOKING ME!"
