Chapter 39 "Fix You"

"Woah~ appa! You can do magic?!"

The twins were squabbling over the magic tricks Taehyun learned when he was in middle school. He was amused to see the sparkling eyes of the girls, their excited smiles, and wondrous reactions.

He was done tying Taemi and Hyunhee's shoe laces and now he was doing tricks with his credit card while they wait for Y/n to finish dressing up.

Taehyun's smile grew wider as the twins clapped their hands in tiny when his credit card disappeared after he snapped his fingers. Taemi was bewildered, she was so confused how did it happen when she knew that normal beings must not possess such ability. Hyunhee on the other hand, kept a very, very shocked face as she yelled.

"Oh my grapes!" She exclaimed dramatically, "Eomma! Appa has super powers!"

Hyunhee started fussing around as she climbed on Taehyun's back while searching for the card. Taehyun laughed, happy to entertain the girls.

"Appa, where did your card go?" Hyunhee pouted before lifting Taehyun's blazer to rummage through the pockets.

"Oh, I put it in Taemi's sling bag." He said.

It was Taemi's turn to have a priceless reaction, gasping as she opened her tiny bag and found her appa's card.

"How did this happen? We didn't see you put it here," Taemi pursed her lips. Taehyun could read the disappointment in her eyes which made him chuckle. He was proud to easily read her mind.

He took Hyunhee down and placed her beside him on the couch, then he placed a kiss on her hair before she gestured for Taemi to come to him. She obliged and sat on the other side beside Taehyun.

"That's called misdirection, sugarplum." He smiled before placing a kiss on her forehead, "Appa just did a magic trick, not a real magic."

He gently took his card from Taemi's hands while Hyunhee protested, "No way! How exactly did you do that, appa?"

"A magician doesn't reveal his secrets."

Taemi rolled her eyes while Hyunhee fussed for a bit more. All Taehyun did was smile and laugh, clearly having a great time dealing with the twins.

Y/n was done dressing up and stepped out of her room. She watched the exchange, heart warming up at the sight of the twins with cute pretty smiles that they've obviously gotten from Taehyun's genes. She was genuinely happy for the twins, seeing that they've finally been able to see their father. Taehyun who had not been around for the past years, now here he was, making up for everything.

The smile on Y/n's lips slowly faded. She was afraid to think that Taehyun's presence wouldn't last long again and she momentarily forgot his sincere words of assurance. It all just felt terrifying.

"Hey, are you ready to go?"

She slipped out of her thoughts when Taehyun's eyes landed on her. She nervously smiled, "Y-Yeah. Let's go."

Taehyun noticed the change on her expression but decided to let it pass again. He was too cautious, afraid to make a mistake while trying to break the ice between them. After that moment at the jewelry shop, he knew he did brought back the little sparks between them but he still couldn't help but doubt himself again.

The schedule of the school's Family Day event was moved for today since the previous days were packed with other activities.

As they ride Taehyun's car, Y/n couldn't help but worry over certain things.
