[S67] wouldn't you know

Jun had walked into the practice room a little early, and while that wasn't completely unusual for his dance-punctual self, today's definition of early took an extreme meaning.

He was there way too early for his own good and was in the practice room the day before too. It was just because he wanted to get out of his own head. 'Then again, seeing Minghao at this session wouldn't help that much...' he thought, which is why he got here early even though he was out of material to practice alone, he wanted some time alone.

He was just glad Soonyoung and Chan would be there to buff things, then he and Minghao wouldn't have to confront or interrogate or anything of the sort.

When time passed (much faster than Jun would like, mind you...) Minghao was there and the other two were nowhere to be found. Both of the ones who showed had noticed this fairly quickly, because they all have the same 'Love to dance and will get here any time they can' mindset.

Minghao was the first to vocalize it, "That's... huh." He wasn't necessary thinking this was anything suspicious, but Soonyoung and Chan aren't one to miss a dance practice (even when sick sometimes, much to everyone's detriment having to see them that way once they show up and then having to send them right back home) and they definitely don't miss without a head's up.

Minghao just let it go, he'd ask if they were okay later. "Do you wanna practice the routine anyway? We already have the room to ourselves."

"I guess, but before you yell at me, just know that having two people missing in a four person routine is gonna confuse the hell out of me."

"Then let's do something different, I just feel bad holding the time slot and not using it wisely."

Jun thought a bit, and remembered that he's been trying to work on his own choreo recently. Minghao was similar to him when it came to dedication for dance, so maybe he had done some of the same? "Have any solos you've been working on? Let's do our critique and compliment thing."

"Soonyoung and his joy for alliteration..."

"And titling things that don't need titles."

The two giggled at Soonyoung's expense and continued into a routine of stretching, plugging in phones to speakers, and more to get ready to dance. The pattern was as graceful as their choreography, moving in tandem with a purpose, making it look easy. This was done in a matter of 15 or so minutes, then they moved on to the real show.

After some discussion about Jun not having a good routine picked out yet and Minghao being somewhat ready but needed a moment to get into the story, Minghao was up to perform. He stood in the center, took a deep breath and shook himself out and cued Jun to press play for him.

His movements started up slowly and moved with the first melody. He went through the verses keeping the amount of poise and grace and fit himself to the narrative amazingly. By the chorus he had managed to get even more graceful, every movement flowing like a stream.

The rest went by in a blur for Jun because he couldn't even find a thing to criticize. Not only because he thought a bit too highly of Minghao to pick him apart, but the performance was something to marvel at. He did manage to give suggestions, like costume plans or other moves to tack in that would show some extra talent, but there was nothing to change and complain about.

At this point, Jun figured out what piece he would do, and a bit nervously stepped into the center of the room. Minghao gave an encouraging smile and pressed play.

In contrast to Minghao's slow and graceful routine, Jun came in with an upbeat song that you couldn't help but dance to. Jun felt that songs like this were easier to get lost in, and you wouldn't have to worry about if you're smiling or even look like you're having fun. Minghao agreed with this point once Jun was finished and gave a few pointers on facial expressions and angles, but other than that, "Nothing to tweak, it's wonderful," he said.

The two were collapsed on the floor by now, having no breath left from the workout. They accidentally both turned their head to look at each other at the same time, and this prompted an awkward set of laughs and a bit more awkward staring.

Jun wanted to bite the bullet, and Minghao wanted to as well.

"So,"

"Hey,"

And there they were in awkward air yet again.

"You first," Minghao insisted.

"I like you."

Third time's the charm for awkward air.

"I just," Jun clarified, "wanted to say it straight up, no more misunderstandings for us. It's weird."

Minghao could only nod at that because its truthfulness. He was still a bit in shock that he was right, (well, Seokmin and Mingyu were right, but thats not important right now)

"Well, is that why-"

Jun rubbed the back of his neck. "Yes, sorry I didn't explain then. Probably made you feel like you hurt me or something, huh?"

"A little, I truly just didn't want to make you uncomfortable."

"Appreciated, and I wouldn't have been. I started that game and sure as hell would finish it."

"So, what does that mean for us?" Minghao wondered and asked.

"It's sudden... and I don't know what you want, so unless you're ready to rush in, let's go slow? Nothing official or crazy just yet."

"...Sounds good."

Jun couldn't help but feel the slightest bit of disappointment at that, but it wouldn't matter for long is something he also knew. Just because the energy seemed good again.

"For the record, I'm pretty sure I like you too, but I'm still... new to this life, so slow is good. Slow is really good."

Just like Jun imagined, everything's still good.

"Great, and that's perfectly understandable. Not to mention the onslaught of people we'll have on us once we announce anything in a certain chatroom.

Minghao could only agree.

Hi

So i dont remember why i named this chapter the way i did, I was wrote the name then put "junhao for real" as a note so like, past me was wildin and I just had to work with what I was given and we got this

But the funny part is, okay so lil thing bout me, I make lyrics translations (not like, professionally, don't get it twisted, its for my own enjoyment) and i made a set of them for seventeen's 'lucky' (which is a bop, if you dont know bout it, you should know bout it) and for woozis bridge part i have the lyrics "Oh, wouldn't you know..." and like, because of this chapter's title, i was singing lucky the whole way through

so if it feels slightly influenced by it, now you know why lmaooo

Also if you care, in my head minghao danced to Yuju's play and Jun to SVT's lucky therefore the above paragraphs anyway-

I uh also this was slightly late just pretend it wasn't please and thank you also its a strange toine to written chapters for me but junhao is strange tone of ship in this book i kinda did it on purpose okay enough of this

-zi, who's past self tryna get her or killed or even worse, annoyed
