"They're existence is hard to explain, but I'll try my best here since I had to learn it myself really to understand my kingdom fully. Let's see... Laputa's existence has long been a myth because it was mentioned in the satirical novel Gulliver's Travels.
Therefore, no one could imagine that there really was a highly developed culture that could lift entire cities into the sky. The families whose ancestors or they themselves once lived in Laputa were also silent. They didn't talk about it at all really. Sheeta would not have known about the existence if Pazu and Muska had not told her about it.
Pazu's father personally saw and photographed Laputa, but nobody wanted to believe him because the plot of the book Gulliver's Travels is only fictional. Muska, however, knew about this place and was waiting to find evidence. This was provided by a robot that fell from the sky."
"What kind of robot, mama?" Prince Poseidon asked as the robot part was confusing really.
"A Laputian Robot. The Laputian robots are much taller than human beings though appear humanoid with broad, triangular torsos and long, thin arms that reach almost to the ground. The arms can also extend flaps to allow the robots to fly.
The robots have dome-shaped heads with uneven eyes; the left eye is about twice the size of the right eye. They can shoot destructive lasers of varying force from their eyes. They appear to be made out of an extremely strong, dark metal and they have the crest of the royal family of Laputa on their chests."
"Can you tell us more about them, mama?" Princess Kurima asked as Queen Sheeta shakes her head.
"Sure. Would you like to hear more about Laputa some more afterwards, my little ones?"
"Yes please, mama!"
"The history of the Laputian Robots. The first robot seen has fell from Laputa and was recovered by the military. The military brought it to their base at Tedus and had attempted to discover how it worked, without any success.
Although Muska tells Sheeta that the robot is "dead", when she activates the Aetherium crystal on her necklace with a spell she learned from her grandmother, the robot comes back to life. The robot nearly destroys the base trying to reach Sheeta, whom it is programmed to protect, as she is Laputian royalty.
When it gets to Sheeta on the roof of the fortress, the robot does protect her, but it is ultimately destroyed by the airship Goliath. When Sheeta and Pazu reach Laputa, they discover many more robots, but all save one are inert and deactivated.
The single surviving robot spends it's days tending the Laputian plants and animals, including several fox squirrels, and leaving flowers on a gravestone. The robot is kind and gentle to the children as well, and Pazu realizes that although it is the last of it's kind, it isn't lonely because it has the animals as friends.
However, when Muska seizes control of Laputa, he activates many of the inert robots, which he uses as weapons to attack the military and destroy the Goliath. After Sheeta and Pazu recite the spell of destruction that tears most of Laputa apart, nearly all the robots fall into the sea and are destroyed.
As the children fly away from what remains of Laputa, they see the gardener robot has survived and is still taking care of the island's flora and fauna."
"Is there anything else about the robots we should know about?"
"Yes, there is more to learn about them. They were giving tasks to do and they did them well. The robots are controlled from Laputa by a computer or activated by a flying stone. 'Your responsibility is Laputa's maintenance and protection and the protection of the royal family.' The apparently defective combat robot rushes to Sheeta after she has activated her flying stone.
In addition to fighting, the robots maintain the gardens on the island and protect the animals that live there. They also greet the guests and guide them through the city. They probably don't repair robots or broken spots, because otherwise no combat robot would fall from the sky.
"What's their abilities, mama?"
"They have extensible legs and arms. Wings are attached to the latter so that they can fly. They can also climb effortlessly with their limbs. In their face they have two eyes of different sizes that are equipped with sensors. The eyes blink red when they hear noises.
From the smaller eye they fire a laser that can melt steel. Muska's scientists couldn't figure out what material they were built from. They can withstand heavy cannon fire. A single robot could have fortress Tedis destroy the surrounding settlement if the Goliath had not been near."
"What's their weakness, mama?"
"Due to their agility and brutal destructive power, the combat robots are serious dangers that can destroy anything out of blind obedience. A robot was destroyed by a Goliath cannon. Apparently Goliath's projectile was armor piercing and the pushing force destroyed the internal mechanics. When Laputa self-destructs, the robots are deactivated and fall apart. Only robots for maintenance remained."
"What's their origin, mama?"
"The army had a seemingly broken robot that had fallen from the sky. This provided the definitive proof that Laputa really exists and was not just a fictional place from Gulliver's Travels. So the government made efforts with Muska to find the place in question. That's all there is about our very robots."
"What's the origin of Laputa, mama?"
"The origin of Laputa. Once upon a time, there were people who tilled their fields with cattle in the country. They aspired to circle the sky like birds. So they built many different flying machines. Some were successful, others less.
Then came industrialization and they dug into the earth. They dug deeper and deeper than people who did today. Because they wanted to recover neither iron nor tin, but Volculite. The flying machines powered by Holozite could be made much larger than previous of their kind.
Eventually they reached the size of a city, but the goddess of the wind blew incessantly from time immemorial. So it came as it had to come, the floating island cities crashed and the people gave up the dream of soaring in the air.
But the dream of flying lived on in people - one island city remained: Laputa." She loves learning more about her kingdom as somehow it came when she called for it and she used her Quirk to bring them back from the fall and they obey her as their queen.
"What's there on Laputa, mama? It seems pretty hard to have people on something looking fully like this really."
"Well... There's the 'Landing Site', the 'Locations', the 'Gardens', the 'Dome' and the 'Outer Ring'. Do you want to hear about them all and know what they are like, my four little ones?"
"Yes please, mama!"
