Brady kicked the door in anger.

"Brady being angry isn't going to help her. I need you to help me remove the venom."

Jeremiah pulled out a syringe and stuck it between my shoulder blades.

"This will slow the venom down. I'll have to stitch it up and then get it out."

I cringed as the serum was injected.

"Brady hand me the needle."

"Needle," I whimpered.

Brady grabbed my hand and kissed it as Jeremiah worked on my back.

"Marie and James?"

"They're watching some television show."

Good. They don't need to be worrying about me. I wasn't trying to worry Brady either, but it just happened. The bite had hurt but I hadn't thought much about it.

Now I was feeling the side effects of it and the serum in my body.

"Is it out?" I mumbled when I heard scissors cutting off the thread from the stitches.

"Most of it," he stuck in another instrument and proceeded to drain out the venom.

I was scared to meet Brady's eyes, for I knew he was either blaming himself or extremely livid right now.

Jeremiah lifted me onto the bed and instructed for me to remain still and rest.

Brady stood by my bedside looking down at the wooden floor.

"Why didn't you say you were bitten?" he choked.

"I didn't think it was that lethal."

"Nel you could've died."

"But I didn't, Brady I'm fine."

"Don't ever do that again," he turned his back to me as I watched his shoulders shake.

"Brady," I whispered in a small voice.

He turned slowly and looked at me with his gold eyes ready to spill over with tears. "You are the only girl I've ever wanted to protect. You are not allowed to abandon me or your siblings like that ever."

First off that wasn't my intention. I was aware that the bites were bad but I had figured that really only applied to humans. On the other hand, it made me realize that Brady wasn't kidding when it came to my safety.

"I promise," I held my tears back while keeping my voice strong.

"What do we tell Marie and James?" Brady asked looking out the door to see if we were still alone.

"Nothing, they won't be seeing this." I slid a loose shirt on and retracted my wings gently.

"Okay Nel," he looked like there was more he wanted to say but left it at that.
