What exactly could I pack? Yea clothes and maybe a few small devices but from what I was gathering, we would be flying. The whole time. No more walk in the park, living the life of luxury. It was time for action.
Meaning I would never get to try out for baseball or see Mark and Mark again. Marie would never go to Disneyland again... Is that what growing up meant? I wasn't willing to make all these sacrifices for the sake of humanity.
After receiving the disturbing news of our lives ending I knew we woudln't just be worrying about humans. We couldn't die. There was too much in life to look forward too! I wasn't prepared to fail and die. Would our parents stand for this? How could Jeremiah be okay with this?
I threw some clothes together and thought of how to maintain a freindship with the Marks.
Maybe I could take a phone with me and text them? No because if my phone got taken it could be traced back to them... Or I can create one! That's what I'll do.
So instead of packing for the trip I set down and started creating a cell phone. How was hacking into devices not a good talent? I was an expert! Yea the others needed to figure out their talents, but what more could I inherit? We had wings and could kick butt. Was that not enough?
"James! Time to go!" Marie shouted.
I grabbed my duffle bag and threw my essentials in there and ran down the stairs.
"Ready?"
"How come we can't go with Jeremiah?"
"Because we need to scout ahead and figure out tactics," Brady replied as we packed out bags into Jeremiah's car.
"Will we come back to L.A.?"
"As soon as this mission is over yes," Marie shared a smile with me. We would get to see our friends after all.
Nel and Brady threw their wings out as the wind rushed out and lifted us. Getting off the ground was hard sometimes but if you had a running start it made things much easier.
"And we're off!" Marie and I yelled ecstatic to be flying again.
We pushed higher until we flew over the golden gate bridge and could see nothing but the coastline below. I already knew as well as the others that this would be a long flight but it was worth it now. We were going to save our lives, if that wasn't enough then what was?
