Penelope and I were in the front of James and Marie during the flight. We were stronger and could adapt faster to the updrafts that came rushing towards us.
After everything that had happened between us we were not letting each other out of our sight. Saying I love you had truly put things into perspective.
"So where are the bad lands located?" Marie called out.
"South Dakota, it'll take a few days for us to reach it."
"How are we going to destroy this Holster guy?" I whispered to Penelope.
She shrugged, "I haven't gotten that far yet. My guess is his security is more than just the Desmonda."
She was probably right which meant we would have to really pay attention when it came down to fighting.
"What does the place look like?"
"Jeremiah said something about a prison."
"Brady can we stop? I need to rest please," Marie huffed.
I guess we could for a little while. There wouldn't be any harm in taking a small break, besides we needed to find a sleeping spot soon.
"Looks like it might rain," James observed as we landed in a field full of tress and tall grass.
"We'll try to find shelter, if not we'll sleep in the trees."
Marie sat up against a tree with James as they controlled their labor breathing. We were all worn out. This had been the longest trip we had flown in a good while.
"Let's stay here," Marie huffed again and drug some leaves to cover her when the rain pelted down.
I broke a branch and began creating a makeshift tent for the four of us. James helped me throw the palm leaves on the branches and rolled out his jacket to help pad the dirt floor.
"This will have to do for tonight guys," Penelope apologized as we huddled close.
"Well we weren't expecting some five star hotel," Marie chattered and wrapped her coat tighter around her.
"Here," I gave her my leather jacket and just wrapped my arms around Nel to warm me up.
"Penelope do you think we'll get out powers in time," James pressed.
"I'm sure we will James. Mom and dad won't stand for us dying."
I kissed her cheek to reassure her, "She's right. We'll kick butt one we reach the badlands. I guarantee it."
