"Hey Nel, you know your sis is upset right?" I asked touching her shoulder gently.
"Hmm? Oh yes I know. She was upset but didn't want my help so I let her go."
I squeezed her shoulder gently, "I'm sure she'll be fine. She knows who to rely on when things get tough."
Penelope smiled weakly and stared out the window. We were contained inside a house with the freedom to roam. Our only rule about flying outside was to not be seen. Simple enough right? I mean, we live in the middle of the woods so we are preotected. Our driveway is two miles long technically. Honestly I don't trust going outside, too many risks in trusting that you won't get caught. Penelope and I had to take care of James and mainly Marie since they're younger.
"We could go pick up some of the apples and make a pie for her?" I suggested.
"That'd be great," Nel replied her purple eyes flickering.
"Let me finish this real quick," James interjected.
James is the genius in our group. He constructs and fixes everything. I've never met a guy who knew so much about technology. Though it's good he does because I consider myself to be technology impaired. I'm more charismatic and intelligent.
Marie is... Well we're not really sure what she is. She goes through her phases so we're still trying to figure her out.
Nel, well Penelope is stunning. I adore her and respect her for taking care of her brother and sister. She's determined and willing to do anything to ensure our safety.
As for me, I'm a fighter. I protect the group and make sure we can get ourselves out of trouble. So far our way of talking our way out of a situation has worked.
"Let's get some apples!" James yelled and ran outside.
"Someone is outdoorsy," I joked.
"Well when you're inventing all day it's good to get some vitamin D."
That's what I adored about Penelope. She's wise and can be funny too.
"I got some!" James called hovering over a branch and picking apples.
"Great! we'll be right up," I replied grabbing Penelope's waist and flying up.
"Brady!" she squealed and tried to extend her wings.
"What? You don't like it?" I teased stroking her hair gently.
"Not when I'm helpless," she grinned and poked my nose, or tried too.
"Ow! Thats my eye!" I cried and dropped my arms, without realizing what I had done.
She screamed and threw her wings out to catch a drift before she could crash.
"Penelope!" James yelled and flew down with his apples.
She landed and rubbed her shoulders while gazing at her brother.
I flew down and started, "Nel I didnt,"
She smiled genuinely, "It's okay," and grabbed my hand.
Penelope is an angel truly. She never complains and really tried to see the good in others. I don't know how she does it, but I love her for it.
"Let's make the pie!" James declared and flew back towards the house.
