~Levi~
Levi locked the door to Amelia's prison cell. As he made his way to Erwin's office, he couldn't help but reflect on the day behind him.
He still wasn't sure what to make of their new prisoner yet. He was usually a good judge of character due to spending his adolescence around criminals in the underground, and even being one himself for a time. She appeared to be harmless but with a background like hers, who was to say that she wouldn't turn around and stab him in the back?
Amelia had survived outside of the Walls for five years, apparently wrestled with a wolf and could decently hold up her own against him in a fight. His first impression of her hadn't exactly been great. She had looked quite primitive and wasn't the most cleanly. But considering her circumstances, it was a miracle that she had come out of it relatively sane.
Levi couldn't deny that he was curious. Above all, he wanted to ask how she had gotten those fighting skills. When they were sparring, it was as if she was predicting his moves and how to counteract them. She fought like he had once done in the underground, desperate and dirty. That left him wondering if there was more to her story than she was letting on. Like the stories from the scars that littered her body that he had seen whilst they were in the infirmary...
Pushing those uncouth thoughts away, Levi realised that he had arrived at his Commander's office. Bracing himself, Levi loudly knocked on the oak door, waiting for his cue to enter.
"Come in," Levi heard Erwin's deep voice beckon from the other side of the door.
Levi pushed open the doors to his office, sauntering over to his usual seat on Erwin's sofa. Draping one of his arms over the edge, he waited for Erwin to notice him.
"Good evening, Levi," Erwin greeted, peering up at him over his endless piles of paperwork. As Erwin's third, Levi always had a fuckton of paperwork to do. But, in comparison to Erwin, Levi had it easy. "How was your first day of looking after our new 'recruit'?" Erwin inquired, scribbling his signature on the bottom of some important-looking document.
Levi shrugged. "You know how I feel about babysitting."
Erwin chuckled. "I do, but you're the only person that I can trust to do it. But from what I've heard today, you haven't been doing the best job at it." Erwin got up from his desk and sat on the chair opposite Levi. A tea set with two cups was laid out in front of him. Erwin always knew how to placate Levi. Helping himself, Levi poured himself a steaming cup.
"I heard that you put Amelia Tsuniko in the infirmary this morning?" Erwin's eyebrows furrowed, his face turning stern. Once Levi had finished with the teapot, Erwin went to pour his own.
"I only did what you asked me to, Erwin," Levi huffed, testing the temperature of his tea with his tongue.
"I did ask you to test her, but you didn't need to go so far. Just keep that in mind in future. We don't want another Eren situation," Erwin scolded him. Levi could only roll his eyes.
"Fine, I promise to not hurt your new 'Titan reader'," Levi teased. When they had been discussing what to do with Amelia when she was unconscious, Erwin had come up with the codename for her when they were potentially sensitive information regarding her. Levi found it cheesy and he wasn't going to let Erwin forget it.
Erwin gave him a playful glare over his cup. "Good. From what Hange told me earlier, the two of them seem to be getting along quite well," Erwin changed the subject.
"If you can call being forced to be their latest test subject getting along well," Levi sneered.
"I can't say I'm surprised. I've already had them request to perform further medical tests on Amelia. We can only hope that Hange discovers something useful about Amelia's ability. And anything that she might be hiding from us," Erwin pondered.
"About that, before I came here, Tsuniko asked if she could meet with you," Levi suddenly recalled.
"Oh? That's much quicker than I was expecting. Did she mention she wanted to discuss?" Erwin's fatigued eyes now shone with excitement.
"She told me that she was willing to answer some of the questions that you have," Levi stated, utterly disinterested. He didn't like feeling like some messenger boy.
"Tell her that I'll meet with her in the morning. I'll have to move some things around but this is more important," Erwin contemplated, glancing at his overpopulated desk calendar.
Levi simply gave him a nod, clinking his empty tea cup back with its saucer. "If you have no more questions, I'm leaving." He had finished his tea which meant that he had no reason to stay here any longer. Plus, he was eager to leave and work off some of the peculiar thoughts he had been having in the training room.
"Actually before you leave, I have something else to tell you," Erwin stopped him, "Hange had proposed doing some experiments with both Amelia and Eren to test Amelia's mind-reading ability. So, just a heads up that you might be seeing Eren around more than usual," Erwin explained.
"Great, now I get to deal with two brats instead of one," Levi muttered bitterly under his breath.
