~Amelia's POV~
Six long days passed after I started to use 3DMG. Last night, Levi told me that he was going to provide aid to another district for six days. The exact number of days until the winner of our bet was decided. And it wasn't hard to figure out who that would be. Six days was overly ambitious, and I knew I couldn't get the hang of it in such a limited amount of time.
I had seen Levi's upset that day and wanted to come up with something to distract him. I still wondered what it was that had caused his bad mood, but I wasn't one to push.
Regardless, I had been practising for a few hours each day, still determined to try my hardest. I had made little progress, however, I could hook onto a surface now- something I couldn't do until yesterday. I still had absolutely no control over it and kept landing on my face embarrassingly frequently. If I was good at one thing, it was keeping Levi entertained.
I was eating breakfast with my squad, conversing about how busy we all were until we were interrupted by a beseeching voice. "A-melia!" Hange bolted over to me with a puppy-like expression on their face. A face I knew very well.
"Hello, Hange," I greeted, preparing myself for whatever strange task they were going to ask me to do today.
"Good morning, Squad Leader Hange," Eren saluted to them. "Are we doing any more experiments today?"
"Well, yes, Eren. Just not with you. I was going to ask Amelia if she wanted to be a part of my experiments today," they replied, slinging an arm around my shoulder.
I raised an eyebrow. "What exactly will these experiments entail?" I wasn't about to blindly agree to Hange's experiments without knowing what I was getting myself in for.
"Oh, nothing too intense. I thought that we'd test out that mind-reading skill of yours," they elucidated.
I folded my arms. "And how do you plan on doing that?' I huffed at them. I had planned to practice 3DMG the whole day, not to become someone's test subject.
"I thought we could go and visit your Titan first. Test the capabilities of your ability with a Titan that we can trust and then go from there," they explained.
My eyes lighted up. "Yes, I absolutely agree." I knew Hange was suggesting this because they wanted an excuse to go and see Furlan. But I couldn't complain. I hadn't seen Furlan in so long with everything that's been going on. And if we were going to see him, it meant that Hange's focus would be off me and I shouldn't be too exhausted to train in the evening.
"That's great! We should get going after breakfast then!" Hange exclaimed enthusiastically.
"Okay, I'll finish up and meet you at the stables." I inhaled my food as Hange waved, leaving to gather their research materials.
I quickly finished my breakfast and bid farewell to the rest of my squad. Hange wasn't there when I arrived so, I decided to go to the horses. Fear prickled at the bottom of my stomach as I neared them, despite me frequently riding on them now. I wasn't sure when the fear would fully be conquered, but I could ride on them now without feeling like I would pass out.
I went over to the horse that had somehow become my own. She was the most timid and understanding horse I had come across- albeit I haven't met many in my life. They purposely gave her to me as she was known for her gentle nature. I held my hand for her to see so I wouldn't startle her with my touch. Then, I gave her a quick rub on the nose and gathered the horse tack I needed.
Hange showed up a little while later with a large bag bursting at the seams. If Furlan agreed to participate in their research, I could only pray for his sanity.
