The next day after Jacob was sorted into Gryffindor, he was then awoken by a loud purring. He then opened his eyes and saw Sky sitting in front of him as she let out a small meow.
"Morning girl" Jacob said scratching behind her ears. He then looked a the clock as it say 6:33 in the morning.
"Well might as well get up I suppose"
A few moments later after Jacob had put on his robes, he went down to the common room. He then saw a certain brown bushy haired girl sitting on the couch.
"Hermione?" Jacob called out. Hermione jumped a little bit as she turned to see Jacob approaching her.
"Oh Jacob, It's only you" She said with her hand on her chest. "What are you doing up so early?"
"Sky here decided it was time for me to wake up" Jacob said pointing to the white kitten. Sky then jumped up on Hermione's lap and stretched out her paw practically begging to be petted by Hermione. "She really likes you"
"I like her too" Hermione said while petting Sky.
"But why are you up so early Mioné?" Jacob asked.
"Did you just call me Mioné?" Hermione asked.
"I'm sorry, if you don't like it I won't call you that again" Jacob said in a sad tone.
"No I like it actually" Hermione said "I've just never had a nickname before"
"I'm glad you like it Mioné" Jacob said smiling.
"But to answer your question I couldn't sleep. I just miss my parents very much" Hermione said as tears started to form in her eyes.
"I understand how you feel the same way" Jacob said "I've been living with my Aunt and Uncle ever since my parents died and I miss them a lot"
Jacob then stopped in mid sentence as he realised what he just said while Hermione had a shocked look on her face.
"Wow, I never opened up about my parents to anyone before" Jacob said.
"Jacob I'm so sorry" Hermione said "You don't have to talk about them if you don't want to"
"No it's ok, I know this sounds weird because we've only known each other for a few days. But I feel like I can truly trust you Hermione" Jacob said confidently.
A huge blush of red started to form across Hermione's face. She felt truly honored that Jacob trusted her enough to talk about his parents.
"Ok Hermione, You can't tell anyone about what I'm going to tell you. At least not until I have more information" Jacob said.
"Ok Jacob" Hermione said.
"When I was a little kid my parents were murdered by.........Voldemort" Jacob whispered. Hermione then let out a fearful gasp as she covered her mouth.
"You mean He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named?" Hermione asked
"Yes" Jacob nodded.
"But why?" Hermione asked "Why would he kill your parents?"
"That's what I'm gonna try to figure out while I'm here" Jacob said as Hermione engulfed him with a big hug.
"Jacob, thank you so much for trusting me with your secret. I promise I won't tell anyone unless you say so" Hermione said as Jacob returned the hug.
"Thank you Hermione" He said "We should probably head down to the great hall. It's almost time for breakfast"
TIMESKIP
After breakfast Jacob and Hermione went straight to Professor McGonagall's classroom but all they saw was a cat on her desk.
"I wonder where Professor McGonagall is" Hermione asked.
