Later in Dumbledore's office, Jacob and Harry were observing another memory that was about Voldemort. But something off about this one.

"Confused?" Dumbledore asked the boys "I'd be surprised if you weren't"

"This memory has been tampered with, hasn't it sir?" Jacob asked.

"Yes Jacob" Dumbledore replied "By the same person who's memory it is. Our old friend Professor Slughorn."

"But why would he tamper with his own memory" Harry asked.

"Obviously Slughorn knows something that he didn't want Tom to know about" Jacob said.

"That's a very good theory Jacob, but I suspect he's ashamed of it." Dumbledore said "I asked you both to get to know Professor Slughorn and I want either of you to persuade him to show you his real memory anyway you can"

Later back in the Gryffindor Common Room, Harry, Jacob and Hermione were discussing how Slughorn wouldn't talk about what he told Voldemort all those years ago.

"Did you honestly expect you could just walk up to Ol' Sluggy and ask him to reveal his deepest darkness secret?" Hermione asked.

"Now, Now love you know thinking gives Harry a headache" Jacob joked making Hermione giggle.

"Very funny Jacob" Harry said rolling his eyes.

"Well, you're going to have to persuade him somehow" Hermione said "Now you've made it even harder"

"Hey, we never made it this far by taking the easy way. Sometimes the hard way is the best solution" Jacob said.

"That's true, well I'm going to bed. You coming love?" Hermione asked as she got up from Jacob's lap.

"I'll be up in a minute" Jacob said as Hermione kissed him.

"Don't take too long" Hermione said as she was about to head up to their dorm.

"Guys?" Harry said "I think Malfoy is leaving the castle. "I've seen it, sometimes he just disappears off the map"

"That's not possible" Hermione said "No one can leave the castle these days. The map's wrong"

"But the map's never wrong" Harry said.

"Don't bother Harry, you're not going to win. Take it from someone with experience" Jacob said as Hermione smiled at him.

"Good night Harry" Hermione said. "Don't stay up too long Jacob"

"I won't love" Jacob said as Hermione walked up stairs.

Later Harry had already went up go bed while Jacob was reading a book. Just then Harry came back down with Ron but he looked like he was in a daze.

"What's wrong with him?" Jacob asked.

"This might answer your question he ate a box of chocolates" Harry said handing Jacob a card "It was found on your old bed"

Jacob opened the card and saw a picture of Romilda Vane in it blowing a kiss. Then it read.
