Chapter 316

Matt's POV: Once I finished explaining everything Andy and Noah needed to know about Louie to them, I took a breath as I came upstairs so that I could be with Gabby. She needed to relax and I knew that she just wanted me close to her right now (even if she didn't want to outright admit it). Going to walk up behind her, I went to go put my hand on Gabby's back and took at breath. "Hey, come here." Gabby agreed with me when I said that and just came to wrap her arms around my waist. Doing the same, I went to kiss the top of her head to try and get Gabby to relax. "Babe, you need to relax. I already took care of it okay?" Gabby agreed with me.

"What did you tell the boys?" I smiled when Gabby asked me that. "I just told him that he was a boy that we took care of for a little while when we first got married. I said we took care of him for some friends rather than..." Gabby agreed with me when I said that. "God, I don't even know why I am getting so emotional. We have a family of our own now." I nodded and agreed with Gabby when she said that. "Yes, and it's all thanks to you." Going to put my hand on her neck, I went to look into Gabby's eyes and smiled at her as I went to kiss her softly. "You want to sit down for a minute? Maybe we can do some breathing?" Gabby nodded and agreed with me.

Grabbing my hand once again, Gabby led me to our bed before going to open the covers and get in. Sitting up against her pillow, she smiled at me, inviting me to come join her in bed. Coming to do just that, I smiled as I went to sit next to her and then wrapped my arm around her. Looking down into her eyes, I smiled as I just went to kiss her softly. Taking it slow with her, I smiled because this was exactly what she needed right now. "Take some breaths for me okay babe? You just ate and you need to keep it down. Last time I checked, you are breastfeeding our girls." Gabby agreed with me when I told her that and smiled. "Thank you."

I looked at her when she said that and smiled. "Hey, me coming to give you the comfort you need is just another part of the job that I'm privileged to have." Gabby smiled when I said that and just put her hand on my chest while leaning against me. She then kissed my chest and smiled as she turned her head to look up at me. Going to put her hand on my face, Gabby smiled as she went to kiss me softly. Taking it slow with her, I smiled because I was very comfortable. "Babe, not too far. Remember, the doctors said that they want you to rest still." Gabby looked at me when Is aid that. "We didn't rest much last night." I smirked and agreed. "No we didn't."

Gabby laughed and smiled when I said that. Tugging my lips down to hers, she smiled and then went to kiss me softly. Taking it slow with Gabby, I was extremely happy that this is what we were doing right now. Moving to grab her neck, I smirked as I laid her down on her back and kissed her softly. "Matt, we have the kids downstairs." i nodded and agreed with Gabby when she said that, going to put my hand next to her on our bed. "Yes, but it's my birthday...and daddy gets a bit of attention on his birthday." Gabby smirked and agreed with me as she went to run her finger down my cheekbone. "Oh, does he now?" I smirked and agreed.

"Yes, yes he does." Going to kiss her, I smiled as I took it nice and slow with her. Putting my hand on the side of her face, I smiled as I kissed Gabby slowly. "I love you." Gabby smiled and agreed with me when I told her that. "God, you make me feel like a kid sometimes." I smiled and agreed with her as I adjusted my hand to her neck. Stroking her cheek with my thumb, I smiled because I was very comfortable just holding Gabby in my arms like this. Honestly, nothing like holding your beautiful wife in your arms like this. "You feeling better yet?" Gabby smiled when I asked her that and just nodded. "Yeah. But would it be okay if we stayed up here for a bit?"

Going to sit up, I sat down next to her and then went to grab her hand. "Everything okay?" Gabby nodded. "Yeah. I guess I just wanted to talk to you about something. But then we had to take care of the kids and now, we didn't get to do our regular morning chat." I nodded and agreed with Gabby when she told me that. "What do you want to talk to me about?" Gabby sighed when I asked her that. "Valentine's Day." I agreed with Gabby when she said that. "I want to do something...just the two of us. I don't care if it's just watching a movie after we put the kids to bed...but I just want to do something. Just the two of us." I agreed with her.

"I think that's a good idea. We have been so concentrated on the kids for a while that we've really put us on the backburner." Gabby agreed with me when I said that, going to grab my hand. "And I hate that Matt. I hate that we have put us on the backburner. We are husband and wife. Our relationship is the foundation of our family. I need time with you." I agreed with her when she said that and sighed. "Yeah, I wasn't going to do this yet but...we also need to talk about stuff I've been seeing in the news recently. That and some briefings that I've been getting from the CFD." Gabby got worried when I said that. "Matt, are they cutting your leave short?"

I shook my head when Gabby asked me that. "No, it's something that I just want to make you aware of. I am sure that Kelly is going to ask me about it since he's been getting the same briefings as me....I guess I want to let you know about what it is before he brings it up." Gabby agreed with me when I said that. "What is it?" I sighed and looked at her. "Since you're a paramedic...you obviously know what a coronavirus respiratory disease is." Gabby agreed with me. "Yeah, of course babe." I agreed with her and took a breath. "They've found a new one in China recently...and they just gave it a name. It's name is COVID-19." Gabby agreed, nervous.

"Okay, and you are telling me this why?" I bit my lip. "The CFD is letting us know that there are possibilities that it may come here. There are already 13 cases here in the US. The latest one in San Diego. The first was in Seattle about a month ago." Gabby just got worried and agreed. "Gabby, I am just telling you because I know you'd be mad if I didn't tell you this." Gabby nodded and agreed with me when I told her that. "Yeah, I would. But thank you." I agreed with her when she said that and took a breath. "Gabby, I want you to just take it easy okay. Don't go all Gabby Dawson on this. Let me take care of this as your husband and the kids' dad."

Gabby shook her head. "Nope, that isn't happening. Matt, you've kept this to yourself for a while...and I understand okay? I'm not mad. And I know it's against CFD policy for you to do this since I don't work there. But I appreciate it. We are a team and we will face this together." Going to roll over on top of me, Gabby pushed me down onto my back and smiled as she kissed me. Going to grab the back of her head, I smirked as I took it slow with her. "I love you." Gabby smirked and agreed with me when I told her that. "I love you too." Just taking it slow with my girl, I smirked because this was fun...at least it was until we were disturbed by whistling.

"Dang, even with kids...your make outs are still hot." Turning my head, I saw that it was Kelly and just groaned. "Seriously man? My bedroom!" Kelly laughed and agreed with me. "Gabby, Stella's downstairs. Your girls are adorable." Gabby nodded and agreed with him when he said that, getting up before going to hug him. "Nice to see you. Matt, talk to Kelly about that up here. Let him know that we are going to work together." I agreed with Gabby when she said that and just sighed as she walked away. "By the way, that's the last hot kiss you get today until later." I smirked and agreed with with Gabby. "Yeah, we'll see about that." She laughed and agreed.

Meanwhile, I turned to look at Kelly. "Seriously, you just had to interrupt my hot birthday kiss?" Kelly laughed and agreed with me when I asked him that. "I guess I did." Walking up to me, he came to hug me and just smirked. "God, your kids are adorable." I smiled and agreed with him. "Are my daughters meeting their future husbands downstairs?" Kelly laughed when I asked him that and just smiled at me. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's what Stella's doing." Getting up, I smiled as I went to hug him. "God, I am so glad that I am off for the next 7 months." Kelly agreed with me. "And it all starts on your birthday. Happy birthday man." I smiled and agreed with him.

Walking up to him, I went to hug him and just smiled. "Now, onto other important stuff. How's the firehouse?" Kelly laughed when I said that. "They are all begging for me to talk to you about when they can come over. But the person I really need to talk to you about is Cordova." I took a breath when he said that. "No, please don't tell me that you're arguing." Kelly sighed when I asked him that and just nodded. "Yeah." I took a breath and then went to sit down, going to put my head in my hands. "Over what?" I sighed. "Who's the most senior officer on shift." I took a breath and shook my head. "Kelly, I don't have time for this. I'm on paternity leave. Boden."

Kelly agreed with me when I said that. "Right, sorry." I just took a breath and sighed when he said that. "Other than that...how are things?" Kelly smiled as he went to sit down on the edge of the bed. "The paramedic chief has been spending a lot more time at the house." I was confused when he said that. "What?"
