Chapter 317

Matt's POV: After learning that Paramedic Chief Hawkins has been spending a lot more time at the house, I was confused (and worried) about that. I mean, why in the world is he spending more time at 51? Is there something wrong with 61? And why is this the first I have heard of this. "Okay, can you at least tell me if it's bad?" Kelly laughed when I asked him that. "No, I have a feeling it's because he has the hots for one of the paramedics." I was shocked when he said that. "Wow, really?" Kelly nodded when I asked him that. "Okay, that's a bit shocking. Guess I just haven't had the best history with paramedic field chiefs." Kelly agreed with me.

"Because of Gabby?" I nodded and agreed with Kelly when he asked me that. "What do you expect? My wife's a troublemaker." He laughed and agreed with me when I mentioned Gabby's history with the paramedic field chiefs. "But we all love her." I nodded and agreed with him when he told me that. "Tell me about it." Kelly smiled when I said that. "So, how are you guys doing here at home?" I laughed and smiled. "Pretty good. I mean, we literally just got home yesterday. But me and Gabby are definitely happy to be home. It was fun." Kelly agreed with me when I said that. "Me and Stella feel the same way. Having our boys home is incredible."

I smiled and agreed with him when he told me that. "Oh definitely...there's nothing like bringing your kids home." Kelly agreed with me when I said that. "But one thing I am still not happy about is the lack of sleep." I shook my head when he said that. "Shut up man. I don't get as much sleep as you do. At least you're going to be able to take naps while your boys take naps...me and Gabby don't have that luxury. While our girls are napping...unless the boys are napping, then we need to be downstairs watching them." Kelly agreed with me and smiled. "Don't say that you don't like doing it though." I nodded and agreed with him when he said that.

"Still, I love this sight of you being a dad. You seem much more relaxed and stuff." Kelly laughed when I told him that. "Trust me, I'm not." I nodded and agreed with him when he said that. "It gets easier. Believe me, it was hard in the first few days when we first had the boys. But it's better the second time." Kelly agreed with me when I said that. "I'm glad to hear that...because that's exactly what I want to hear." I nodded and agreed with Kelly when he told me that, well aware of the fact that he's worried that he's going to screw up. "And believe me when I say this man, we all screw up at the start." Kelly agreed with me when I said that. "Just hate the shifts."

I agreed with him and took a breath. "Don't even get me started on that. We haven't figured those out yet." Kelly agreed with me when I told him that. "Do you think that you're going to work the 24 hours?" I shook my head. "Not a chance. I am more likely to just work the day shift if that's possible. I'm just glad that the CFD has been so generous in their time." Kelly agreed with me when I said that. "I mean, that's if you go back. Don't act like you aren't worried about that new bug." I agreed with him when he said that. "Oh definitely, I am scared of that. I am not sure what that's going to mean for me working. All I know is that I am going to put our health first."

Kelly agreed with me when I told him that. "And rightfully so. I mean you guys have always wanted to have kids. I already know that you guys are not going to put your kids at risk." I shook my head when he said that. "Oh definitely not. I will quit my job before putting my family at risk." Kelly agreed with me when I said that. "Well that means that I can be chief." I laughed when he said that. "Yeah, don't go that far yet. I could also take leave until we figure out a way to stay safe." Kelly agreed with me when I told him that and smiled at me. "So, how long until we head out there? I'm pretty sure that our wives are missing us." I laughed and agreed with him,

"Yeah, need to make sure that they don't start planning the wedding before we get a chance to set a budget." Kelly laughed and agreed with me when I told him that, already well aware of the fact that we are both planning on setting up our kids with each other. "We are so bad. Our kids are going to hate us in the future." I nodded and agreed with Kelly when he told me that. "Oh definitely." Kelly just smiled and agreed with me when I told him that before going to get up. Doing the same, I smiled as we both went to make our way out of me and Gabby's room and down to the living room where I was ready to see Stella for the first time in a while.
