Chapter 337

Matt's POV: After walking back outside to sit down, I sighed because I knew that this might be something I have to deal with. God, I am so scared. We just spend the past 7 months in the hospital...and now, I may need to put my kids at risk by working. That's when I heard Gabby come outside. "Matt?" Turning around to look at her, I smiled. "Hey." Gabby just looked at me when I said that. "You okay?" Taking a breath, I sighed and then looked at Gabby. "It's just something that we're going to have to talk about when we're home." Gabby got worried when I said that. "Matt, something's bothering you. What's wrong?" I sighed and just looked at her.

"While I was talking to Boden...he spoke to me about the pandemic. Yeah, I brought it up and I wanted to see what the CFD was doing." Gabby nodded and agreed with me when I said that. Coming to walk up to me, Gabby just came to wrap her arms around me and took a breath. "What's bothering you Matt?" I sighed as I went to wrap my arms around her and then went to kiss her forehead softly. "Boden just spoke to me about what the CFD is going to do when it comes to the pandemic." Gabby nodded and agreed with me when I said that. "How does this affect you babe?" I sighed when Gabby asked me that. "This is so hard." Gabby just listened.

"Since the pandemic sounds like it's going to be bad...Boden warned me that there's talk about cancelling all paternity leaves so that they can help the pandemic." Gabby then took a breath when I said that and agreed with me. She then proceeded to wrap her arms around me and smiled as she went to lay her head down on my shoulder. Going to kiss her forehead softly, I went to grab the back of her head and smiled as I held her close. "I'm sure that we're going to be fine Gabby." Gabby agreed with me when I said that and looked up at me. "Matt, we'll do it. I promise. If we are required to serve, then we will." I looked at Gabby when she said that.

"Wait, we?" Gabby nodded and agreed with me when I said that. "Matt, it's the humanitarian in me. We both know that I am not going to be happy just sitting on the sidelines. And I am not going to be okay just letting our friends get warn out by a lot of calls. Maybe you can get two Ambos at Firehouse 51?" I smiled when she said that. That's when I heard Boden speak to me. "Why would we need two Ambos at Firehouse 51?" Turning around to look at him, Gabby just smiled. "Uhm, Matt has told me about the pandemic. He's keeping me aware of it." Boden nodded and agreed with Gabby when she said that. Gabby then took a breath and bit her lip.

"Chief, Matt told me that you need him to go back if it goes bad..." Boden nodded and agreed with Gabby when she said that. "Actually, me and Walker just spoke and you can keep your paternity leave. You've been through a lot." Gabby then shook her head. "Chief, listen. I know that this is a lot. But if it comes down to it...I want to help. I'm not just going to be comfortable sitting around on the sidelines." I agreed with Gabby when she said that and just went to rub her back. "Honestly Chief, I already knew this was going to be the case." Boden laughed and agreed with Matt when he said that, obviously well aware of the same situation. "Yeah, me too."

I then smiled at him. "I want Gabby to have her spot back as co-PIC with Gianna. And I want her to work with Violet. She's really good and I think that she'd be good with Gabby." Gabby agreed with me when I said that and smiled. "That sounds like a lot of fun." I smiled and just agreed with her when she said that. "It'll be nice to have you back at the house. Just know that I am going to hover." Gabby laughed and agreed with me when I told her that. "Oh, I am already well aware of that." I smiled and agreed with her, going to kiss her cheek softly. "I would want you to do a few training shifts before you're let off of your leash. However, you can do training in the field."

Gabby agreed with Boden when he told her that. "Don't you have to speak to Chief Hawkins before you set this all up with us?" Boden nodded and agreed with Gabby when she said that. "Yeah, I am going to have to set it up. When would you want to start?" Gabby was about to answer when I decided to answer for her. "In a month." Gabby then turned to look at me. "Sorry, but that's the earliest that I am letting you work both as your husband and as your Battalion Chief." Gabby nodded and agreed with me when I said that. "Okay then. Chief Boden, can you get it set up for me?" Boden nodded and smiled when she said that. "I will do just that. Now, let's celebrate your birthday Matt. Enough work for now." I nodded and agreed with Boden, smiling.
