"Alec! Wake the fuck up!", he heard Magnus say whilst he was trying to shake Alec awake. Completely disoriented, he looked around- what the hell had happened? Slowly, his memory started catching up to him- he remembered both him and Magnus feeling drained and exhausted after coming home, so they decided to take a little nap- apparently, he had forgotten to turn on his alarm and they both must have slept through most of the night. "How late is it?", he groaned- truly not a morning person at all. "Four AM- we can still make it.", Magnus said and pulled Alec into a sitting position, "Come on!" "Coming.", Alec chuckled and struggled out of bed, still more asleep than awake. To help them wake up, they switched on the lights in the whole apartment- Alec couldn't believe it, his little sister turned twenty four hours ago. "Do you know when she'll be home?", Magnus asked, rubbing his eyes. "I know she's probably still at the club and she told me she'd stay the night at a friend's place who lives close to the club- I don't like it when she comes home drunk with no one accompanying her." "I get it, protective brother, very in character.", Magnus chuckled, "That does also mean that we still have plenty of time, too." "True- do me a favor, could you preheat the oven?", Alec said before taking his morning meds. "Absolutely- you'll have to do most of the baking anyways, I'm culinary disinclined, as you know.", Magnus chuckled and dropped himself onto a kitchen chair after completing his first task. "You truly like to paint a worse picture of yourself, don't you?", Alec laughed and put some flour into a bowl before cracking a few eggs. All of the sudden, music started blasting out of Magnus' phone and he whirled around in surprise. "I thought we might spice it up a bit.", Magnus laughed, "That's your midterm playlist, after all." "True!", Alec realized and started nodding his head to the beat- he had some good memories attached to the playlist and even though his first midterm party wasn't exactly one of the highlights at NYABM, it still made him nostalgic of what he imagined to be simpler times. Though, nothing had been simple back then, either. "Crazy how much time has passed, isn't it?", Magnus whispered and Alec nodded. "Do you remember the night I forgot about your audition and cooked for us because I wanted to surprise you with a date?", Alec laughed. "Yeah, that wasn't your peak.", Magnus laughed, "But to be fair, it wasn't mine either. That definitely was the worst time in our relationship." "Man, I'm so happy we worked through it.", Alec admitted, "For a second though, honestly, I thought we might not make it. And that single tiny spark of doubt was already too much for me." "Yeah, me too.", Magnus replied, "After all, we managed to forgive and forget. Besides, we learned so much from that experience, I genuinely believe it has made us so much stronger as a couple." Alec chuckled, nodding: "True. We always find our way back to each other, and that's so precious."

"Do you think it's supposed to look like that?", Magnus frowned whilst mixing the frosting- though it was as pasty as it should be, it almost seemed too dry to be evenly spreadable. "I don't think we'll be able to spread it nicely.", Magnus added, focused on mixing it. "Well, there's only one way to find out.", Alec grinned and dipped his digit finger into the bowl before smearing the frosting on it across Magnus' cheek. "Ew!", Magnus yelped and distracted Alec with his grimaces whilst taking a fist full of flour and throwing it at Alec, making sure it was all over his face and hair. "Oh, so this is where we're going?", Alec laughed out and covered his hands in leftover chocolate icing only to run them through Magnus' hair. "This is disgusting!"; he laughed and tried to stop it from dripping into his eyes, which Alec immediately used to his advantage by setting the icing in place with a setting layer of flour. "Okay, stop! You won!", Magnus yelped and desperately tried to clean off his hands. "You look cute.", Alec admitted and licked some of the frosting off of Magnus' cheek before giving him a kiss, his dirty hands leaving prints on his boyfriend's shirt. "You look hot with white hair.", Magnus laughed and tried to get some of the flour out, but failed. "Thank you.", Alec laughed and got back to the frosting, "But to get back to the roots, I do think that the frosting needs some more lemon juice." "Aye-aye, captain!", Magnus joked and got right back to it whilst Alec switched off the oven and put the icing between their cake bases. Twenty minutes later their cake was almost done, now it was Magnus' time to go wild with decorating. As if he has never done anything else in his life, he wrote "Happy Birthday, Isabelle!" with black tube icing across the cake, drew on a few black and silver butterflies and placed some edible gemsones around the edge of the cake. "Damn- if dance doesn't end up working out for you, you should try opening a bakery.", Alec laughed. "With you as my coworker it for sure would be an option.", Magnus replied and put the cake into the fridge before proceeding to clean up the mess they had created. Obviously, neither of them was surprised to find flour all over the floor and dirty handprints all around the kitchen. "The second we get this mess cleaned up, we've got to make sure we get ourselves cleaned up as well.", Aleck chuckled, wiping the kitchen counter. "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?", Magnus asked with a smirk on his face. "Oh, yes I am- Isabelle's shower is fantastic." "Well, I hope it is.", Magnus grinned and tossed his paper towel into the trash, "Care to test that hypothesis?"
