"So," Nat leaned on the shop counter, starring at Mix who was counting all the money the Wongratch Wontons shop had made that day. "Tell me who is it?"
Mix didn't even bat an eye, focusing on counting, to not make any mistake, "who is who?"
"Come on, Mix! Since you started at uni you have been walking around with that dreamy look on your face. That's really suspicious if you ask me. So tell me, who is that lucky one?"
Mix shook his head, still looking at the money and not on his 'almost sister.' "I have no idea what are you talking about, Nat."
"Okay, fine," Nat puckered her lips and leaned over the counter to be closer to Mix, "either you tell me now or I won't stop bugging you about it...ever. And you know me, Mix — will I stop?"
With resignation, Mix finally looked at her, "fine, but let me count this first. Can you do that?"
Nat grinned and stepped away from the counter, "of course, I can." Letting Mix count in peace, she turned around and walked towards the front of the shop, sticking her palm out and letting quiet April rain touch her skin.
Mix's eyes lingered on Nat for a bit longer, silently laughing — she was so annoying sometimes. But she was also a good friend so Mix didn't mind that much. What he minded more was whether he should tell her about a little, just a slight, unimportant, almost non-existent crush he had developed on his university senior — Earth Pirapat Watthanasetsiri.
What would he even tell her? Oh, yeah, Nat, so I think I have — no, no scratch that! I have a crush on my university senior. We only talked twice for a few seconds about school stuff, but oh God, his voice...You should hear it, it's both soothing and also makes you nervous, but like good nervous. And when he talks...the way his thoughts linger in the air for hours after he says them. He is so smart and his mind is so captivating, and I could listen to him talk for hours upon hours...
But of course, Mix wouldn't say that he actually did it but secretly, sitting next to Earth's table during lunch, or how sometimes he stopped on the hallway and just listened from afar how Earth was just mindlessly talking to his friends. Earth's voice was strong exactly in the right way for air to carry it further away and bring the melody of it right to Mix's ears even when he stood somewhere behind the corner.
Mix was aware that it sounded creepy, more than anything else — listening to someone else's conversation, that was why he didn't even plan to tell all of that to Nat. But he swore he only listened to Earth's words when he talked about something non-personal. Any other times Mix only allowed himself to listen to the perfect melody Earth's words were creating.
