He tapped on the keyboard of his computer without leaving the clock out of his sight. After work, he would join his friends in a small bar for a drink and celebrate the beginning of the weekend. He was also impatient and he could no longer concentrate. One of his friends went to his office and gave him a nod, smiling. He reported the torture was almost over. You bet! I have to finish it all before I leave! He took the phone and dialed his own number to access his voicemail. He hoped to hear from a young woman. He had answered a stupid ad on a website a few days ago. And he had the bright idea to invite her to join them for the evening. His heart began to beat wildly in his chest when he heard the tone telling him he had a message. He hastened to listen.

“Hello Michael, this is Bridget… I promised to leave you a message, so voilà! Come join me at the Pool Pub around ten o’clock. I’m wearing a striped pink and white blouse. See you tonight!”

A big smile appeared on his lips. He finally will meet her! She may be the love of his life. He looked at the clock. His painful workday would end in just five minutes. Except he had no more concentration. His head and his mind were already elsewhere for a long time. Especially since he had heard Bridget’s message… But he had not finished his damn job. He took a deep breath before getting back to what he had to do before leaving.

And he succeeded to beat a speed record! He joined his friends in time.

“To our weekend!” Bastian launched happily raising his glass of beer.

“Yes!” Stephen said.

The four friends drank uttering little cries of joy. Michael listened to his friends with a distant ear. He thought about Bridget. They had a long discussion on the net before exchanging phone numbers. Their long conversations continued and they were finally going to meet each other. He didn’t know her for very long, but he already believed in love. He loved the sound of her voice.

“Are you listening?” Boris dropped, snapping his fingers in front of his eyes.

“Yes… What is it?” Michael mumbled looking at his friends.

“Do you live on the same planet as we are?” Bastian asked.

“Yes, of course…”

“Guys,” Bastian began, “I intend to pay me a beautiful exotic dancer for the evening… or maybe more!”

“You’re just thinking about that,” Stephen cried, laughing.

“I’m just a normal guy who wants beautiful women to end the week.”

“Well, don’t count on me,” Michael told them.

His friends stopped talking to look at him.

“You’re not coming with us?” Boris asked.

“And for what reason?” Bastian asked him, a small smile on his lips. “Think you’re better than us?”

“No… I… I just have something else…”

“Did I tell you what I saw today?” Stephen asked them rubbing his hands.

Michael was happy not to be the center of the conversation of his friends anymore. The change of subject pleased him enormously. Stephen told them he had surprised the assistant director of sales in the closet with the CEO’s daughter. Bastian whistled, imagining the scene in details. The CEO’s daughter had the physical features of a model and barely aged twenty years old. A very nice piece!

But Michael wasn’t very interested in that sort of thing. The juicy stories around him were not interesting for him. He thought about Bridget. Should he discuss this with his friends? He wasn’t very good with women. Hey could perhaps give him some advices. Nothing forced him to do exactly what they will suggest. He could always try a more traditional approach, but he wanted to impress her. He heaved a deep sigh, shaking his head to pick up the thread of the conversation.
