She walked into his office with a big smile on her lips. He lifted his head before pushing a deep sigh. She opened her long coat, revealing her body practically naked. He had no reaction. She licked her lips before asking him what he thought about it.

“I don’t have time.”

“Your secretary told me that you had no appointments this afternoon.”

“This is not because I have no one in my office that I necessarily time to waste.”

“Brad left town.”

“Oh! Now I understand better why you came to see me. You should have an appointment.”

“I have one! Just look at your electronic agenda. It has changed a bit…”

Frowning, he opened his diary and noted with bewilderment that she was right: his secretary had added an appointment a good part of the afternoon. Except that she didn’t say anything. Exasperated, he sighed, sinking against the back of his chair.

“Why did you do that?”

“I wanted to have you for myself.”

“I don’t have time for a simple consultation.”

“But I want more!”

“Amanda!”

“I wanted to take advantage of Brad’s absence to spend some time with you…”

“Don’t even think about it. I’m very late in my paperwork so I don’t have time to dedicate to you.”

“Why? Before, you always had time for me.”

Her lower lip trembled, announcing an imminent rain of tears. He couldn’t lie to her now. He had to admit he didn’t want to see her again. She gasped with surprise, putting her hands to her chest.

“How dare you?”

“Amanda, you know very well that it would never work!”

“I… I thought you loved me…”

“But I like you, but I can’t stand playing second fiddle in this story. You’re still a married woman!”

She shrugged.

“Before, it didn’t prevent you from making love to me.”

“I want more than just sex. I want a stable relationship.”

“Are you kidding me? There is no more stable than me: I’m married for ten years now!”

“You refuse to understand.”

“On the contrary! I understand very well that you let me down for a stupid reason.”

“There’s something else than sex. I want a house, a wife, children… It’s a relationship I need. Not occasional sex.”

“I don’t agree.”

“There’s nothing between us. You’re becoming Mrs. Brad Sylvester. So can I help you?”

“You know very well that I can’t stand this man.”

“File for divorce.”

“But I can’t!”

“At first, you came to see me because you were not happy. Divorce and you’re finally free to do whatever you want.”

“And for the money? I will not touch a penny if I divorce without children.”

“Your marriage contract is too weird. There will be the pension he will pay you.”

“I don’t have a penny if I’m not with him. How am I going to live?”
