"But Mike !" the young girl sighed, pouting. "You had to come with us! Why did you change your mind?"

He just shrugged without answering her. He had nothing to say to her. She was not his mother. Then he could still do what he wanted. She could be so stubborn! Needless to say: she refused to leave him alone as long as he wouldn't get back on his word. He wouldn't go. He found the idea totally ridiculous. At the time, he had laughed and accepted just for a little fun. But his friends had perhaps too much to drink and they had spoken under the influence.

"I was serious!" she announced, straightening herself.

"Not me. And you know why?"

"Because you're scared?"

"Because it's completely stupid."

She opened her mouth and exploded with rage. She began to yell at hims as if he was any good. Then he said to her that he was far from being a coward. He just wouldn't waste his time with this story.

"It's too ridiculous," he said, shaking his head.

She struck him on the shoulder.

"What are you talking about? It'll be cool!"

"Are old are you?"

"It has Nothing to do with that."

"Still! You really want to go there? This is completely ridiculous."

"It'll be fun, right?"

He shrugged and sighed.

"I don't really believe in all these things."

"That's the beauty of it: we may have evidence that there is incomprehensible forces. Do you understand?"

"Don't count on me, okay?"

She refused to do so. According to her, he promised. So he had to keep his word.

"I don't want to waste my time."

"Who's talking about waste of time? It's urban exploration. Never heard of it?"

"Of course. I've seen videos on the net, but it has never interested me to do it myself."

She gave a deep sigh, getting away from him. Was she retreated? He would have liked that if it was the case! She commenced her little number of insulting, calling him coward and weak. He had to attend his classes so he had something else to do with his time. He asked her to get out. She folded her arms on her chest, mad with rage.

"You have no courage," she threw in a dismissive tone.

"It's called a "lack of interest", you know? I have something else to do with my time."

Suddenly, she got out of the room. Damn she's so annoying! He finished to prepare his stuff before returning on campus. He met Thomas and Lindsey on his way. They bowed quietly, but Lindsey called him out. He turned to them.

"Is she manage to convince you?"

"You won't do that too?"

"And why not?" Thomas asked, replacing his backpack. "It'll be fun!"

"So, you have to go and leave me alone."

"Debbie will also be there," Lindsey said, "and only you will be missing."

"And what are you going to do there? You walk around hoping to find what?"

The couple threw a quick look.

"This place is reputed to be haunted," Thomas replied as if it was obvious.

"Ah! Just that! And well, it will be without me."
