Darkness Glows

Chapter. 22

We were all nervous, I could tell. The tension hung tight in the air as I breathed sharply.
I'm actually seeing him again, I get to see Zack, at last. It feels like its been forever, who am i kidding, it has been forever. All the memories from when we were little kids flow back to me.
Once when I hadn't been restricted yet, we were outside at a lake near our complex, kinda in the middle of the city but no one noticed it. He pushed me in and I remember it being freezing cold. He jumped in a few minutes after he stopped laughing. We continued to have water fights in the shallow water while our parents watched us from the grassy area.
We arrive near the concert venue and I notice the same, dark haired kid I've known all my life, but he's older and he looks more mature.
He smiles when he sees me as he walks toward me, happier than the sun.
"Zack.." I whisper as he engulfs me in a hug.
"I've missed you so much Ditz... so so much."
He smells of cologne and mint, a surprisingly nice smell in the cool breeze. We stand there giving for so long until I hear Carter clear his throat in the background.
"I guess we should be heading in now?"
I look back at him, the smile on my face growing.
"Yeah, that would be a good idea."
I notice that people started to fill up the area, growing by the second.
The guy that takes our tickets is young and I begin to wonder how he or the job as a ticket person but I soon dismiss the thought cause it does not involve me.
We buy shirts, of course I buy, like, all of them, well one it each, cause I will probably never experience this again. Mandy and Cody are off doing their own things, probably fanning over Adam Levine and the rest of the band.
Meanwhile, I'm with Carter and Zack, looking at all the merchandise, and exploring the building. Scarlett and Ethan are going out to find some new person to add to the cause. Well if this is even a cause. I'm worried that Carter feels like a third wheel, minding that I'm spending a lot of the one with Zack. Every time I ask if he's alright, he says he's fine and that I should go back to talking to Zack. We find or seats about fifteen minutes before the pre-show. Zack and I are literally right in front of the stage and from what I can see, Everyone else is a few rows behind us. To be honest, Carter and Scarlett look fairly fed up with Cody and Mandy while Ethan types away at his phone.
"So what have you been up to..? You know... since after I left.?"
I turn my attention back to Zack, who is looking at me, his body shifting uncomfortably.
"Well, a lot happened actually. I became best friends with the girl that moved into your old house, Mandy, she's here now. I took school online and somehow managed to get straight A's... Life's been good, well, it always has been."
He smiles and I smile back, right as the concert starts.
•After the concert•
Zack and I make our way out of the building laughing a lot. The concert was amazing. Adam jumped into the crowd and he hugged me. We even got to go back stage where he followed me on Twitter and we took a million pictures and videos. It was probably one of the best nights of my life.
We break out through a door and into a ally.
"Are we waiting for the others here?"
I giggle, the alcohol that I somehow acquired during the night coursing though me.
"No, but let's not worry about that."
I giggle again and he presses his lips against mine. They are soft, with a lingering taste of alcohol. He defiantly had alcohol but not near as much as me.
I let him kiss me, adrenaline coursing through me at the need to kiss someone, the want. A sensation that I have never felt with Carter is flowing through me, probably because me and Carter have never actually kissed. Like other than a simple kiss, we have never had a deep kiss like this one.
He pulls away and we stare into each other's eyes, breathing heavily.We both know what we just did was wrong, but we also know that we couldn't get enough of each other in that moment. Then, someone clears their throat.
