About a few days into everyone's haze, Scarlett found a energy drainer on the underside of the bus. Why it was trained on the four of us, well, the answer is pretty obvious, but the one thing I do know is that we have been sleeping for hours. The drainer made it so that we were in a mind set of sleeping but not, so now that we're out of it, we have been cuddled on a bed on the second floor of the bus. Mandy and Cody are currently cuddled together in a ball on the end of the queen bed and Carter has his arms wrapped around my waist, our legs entangled together. It's peaceful, more peaceful then you could imagine, the four of us relaxing and sleeping, though I'm slightly awake, only enough to think though as my mind is so clouded. I had missed these moments of comfort great fully, so I will not let them go again.
A soft grumble comes from Cody as he sits up, almost falling off the bed as Mandy has most of her body pushed into him. He gently rolls off and I look at him in his sleepy state. His hair is messed up, going in every direction, his t-shirt is twisted around his body and his pyjama pants are hiked up high above his waist. He looks freshly of sleep, and he probably smells like bedsheets to. I sit up half of my body that can and carefully untangle my legs from Carters, careful not to wake him. Cody is looking at me as I walk towards him. A silent agreement sends us to the stairs. My favourite place to sit is in the middle stair, you are not let on the first floor, but not entirely on the second either.
"I just feel so.." He begins absentmindedly.
"Drained?" I finish from him, seeming more as s question than a ending. His head bobs once, acknowledging my thought. It's simple, really. We all feel the same way, have the same emotion, body language, it's just what's happening between us right now.
"Are you scared?" Are the words that tumble from his mouth next.
"Very," I reply quietly, letting him either hear it, or strain to recognize my answer.
"We will find the portal, the brothers Grimm won't even have touched us by then." His words were as reassuring and sincere as they let ok, though there is still a tinge of regret, fear, and numbness behind them, almost as if he's trying to believe the words that came out of his mouth just moments ago.
"You say that now, but the future is so uncertain."
"That you are right, but Natalie, we need to focus. It's a tale that they are close, they could be anywhere, we would know if they were close, wouldn't we?" I feel his strong arm grip around my waist and I mean into him.
"Not nessicssarly, we may have eyes everywhere but we don't have any clues about them, they could literally be anyone." The dawning truth was scary, if we aren't careful, we may just fall right into the hands of the people that want to rid us.
"Oh Cody what are you going to do?"
"We are going to stay safe." And stay safe we shall. This short exchange with Cody was nothing but a mere of friends talking. We are close, rather a lot, and to know he is trying to comfort me when something as vile as this is happening, gives me hope of the future, that we may just be safe. Problem though, the only one of us that knows how to fight is Scarlett. The bots may have known in the other world but those skills defiantly did not transfer over, though no matter. If there is anything I had learned about the boys is that they are quick learners. Then there's Mandy and I. I was a princess back in our world so who knows what I was good at or not, I've lost most of those abilities over the years because I've been locked in my house.
"This bus is getting cramped, and were parked, feel for a walk?"
Cody's arm unravels from my waist as he takes my hand leading me towards the bottom of the bus and out the door. We had always been quite close so his actions don't bother me as we've scored this way many times before. As we pass out the door, we see the girls all cuddled, sleeping on the floor, and Ethan and Scarlett wrapped in a blanket together on the couch. They all look so peaceful, so calm and ready for the next day after a good nights sleep.
We walk, for what feels like hours where in reality, it's only minutes the scenery making the time feel like its passing quickly. A pain in my chest stops me from walking for only a moment before my footsteps continue. Only moments later does the pain return, this time stronger. This goes on for few more times before I collapse, the pain being to much. Cody catches me swiftly, gently placing me on the ground.
"Natalie, Natalie what is it?!"
My breath comes in straggled gasps before I am able to reply.
"Th-e sto-ne I- they're close"
Costs face is one of fear and concern.
"Who, Nat? Who?"
"The brothers Grimm."I haven't updated in a while, and I don't have a explanation, don't be mad; I've also been trying to improve my writing, and judging by this chapter, I have. I hope you enjoyed!
