Darkness Glows

Chapter. 28

Back on the bus, yes, that's where we are. We are driving down the highway, what highway it is, I'm not sure, but there nine of us now. Me, Mandy, Cody, Carter, Scarlett, Ethan, Ivory, Bliss and Armenia. The three decided to tag along as it would benefit everyone, though it is getting a tad cramped on the bus. Nautica had another course she wanted to take. So we parted ways, though we did say goodbye and we promised to keep in touch, that we will see her back at our world. It's all a mystery to me. I'm currently upstairs with Mandy, Cody and Carter playing a board game. The rest are on the bottom floor.
"The original four." I say after some silence.
"We are, aren't we?"
I reach my hand to Mandy and she takes it.
"I'm glad to be back guys, I'm sorry for the trouble I caused."
"It's alright, you may have scared us but we knew you would be back."
Giving a great film smile towards Cody, I lean my head back on Carter's chest.
"This is the moment that will decide the future guys, I can feel it, somethings going to happen."
Carters strong arms wrap around me and Mandy moves into Cody, hugging him tightly. Yes, they are a thing now, and I personally love them together. They are both loud and hyper and they shit each other, in more ways than one.
"The first day, when we were all together, on your birthday, Natalie, I fort something, and I feel that again today."
I look over to Cody who is smiling t all of us, showing his pearly whites.
"We need to get somewhere, I'm not sure where, I'm guessing somewhere in Chicago, we need to find this portal, a normal door, or a shimmering light that opens when one of us is near, from what I know." My voice is course and I repeat the information we all know, the stuff that's super important, the files in my mind that will get us home.
"True, one of us four, but we can't all go through it if we aren't all together, so that's why we have to find you Nat, and now that we have, it may just be easier to get to where we need to be."
Carter pipes up from behind me after Cody speaks.
"Yeah but there's more threats we need to worry about, the brothers Grimm, from the fairy tales we knew when we were kids, yeah well they are villains where we are from, and they are here. It turns that Ivory and her group weren't after us, but the Grimm brothers, and now that we are all together, there may be a greater risk of them finding us." I pull away from Carter and look at him in shock.
"How do you know all of this?"
He shrugs.
"It just came too my mind."
I can't tell whether this is a sign, something important, though I can tell the road is only going to get bumpier from here on. All nine of us are going to have to be on watch, alert, these brothers, they scare me.
"We need too watch for them, we need too protect each other because if one of us dies.." I trail off, the atmosphere in the room becoming thick with tension. We all know that if one of us dies then there's no going home.
"Mandy it's your turn, take the house or leave it," I laugh, trying to lighten the mood as I lean back towards Carter.
We will be okay.
