With Song Lan and Xiao Xingchen, Wei Wuxian was getting more anxious the closer they traveled to Gusu. His eyes filled with curiosity and wonder as he traveled for several days before reaching Caiyi Town.
"I was told by Baoshan that you are to be rooming with a Gusu Disciple," Lan stated, "although A'Chen and I won't be within Cloud Recesses, we will still be here in town in the meantime."
"I know," Wuxian said, "I will behave, and I'll try to come to town to keep you in the loop of things when I can."
"I know you will probably feel tense with all the rules they have, but you can still be yourself all the same," Lan said as they approached the inn they were staying at.
"While we are also here, we will keep an eye out for anything suspicious," A'Chen said, "we will inform you if there is any strange activity."
Wuxian nodded, "since it's getting late, I'll stay at the inn with you tonight and make my way to Cloud Recesses in the morning." The three nodded in sync before getting a room. Wuxian even went out to get Emperor's Smile just so he could have a taste. Once he did, he came to discover that it was by far his favorite wine he's tasted. He frowned a little knowing that it would be a while before tasting it again...even any alcohol, to be honest, being as alcohol was forbidden in Cloud Recesses.
Seeing his martial uncles were asleep, Wuxian could not, so he quietly left the room and went to explore the nearby forest. He came across a beautiful landscape of a flowing river with a gentle flowing waterfall. He could feel the spiritual energy of Cloud Recesses as it was only a few miles from where he stood. Wuxian slowly approached the flowing calm river and sat at the edge. He folded his legs and sat in lotus position and began to meditate. As much as Wuxian was an energetic soul, because of Baoshan, she was able to help Wuxian learn to focus on his breathing.
Deep in his meditative state, his mind started to cloud, turning ever so bright but not bright white that was blinding but bright like a sunny day. He was so in his trance, he fell asleep and started dreaming. He could see the area he was currently sitting in, but it was in the daylight. Across the way, he spotted a figure in white. The figure had his back to Wuxian, but he could tell that it was a male. The build looked strong and tall, his skin was white as Jade and hair as dark as a raven's feather and a strip of fabric wrapped around his forehead; the figure seemed almost too ethereal to be real. Wuxian wanted to call out to him, say hello, and see the person's face, but could not bring himself to do so.
Slowing the brightness faded and he was coming out of his meditative trance. He could feel a real presence this time. He opened his eyes only to see the figure he dreamed still across the river from him, this time he could see part of his face and a sword. The dream now seemed to be real, but it was night. The moon was full, causing the man in white to glow in his presence. Wuxian slowly stood and firmly held Suibian in a nice grasp, just in case the man had ill intentions, but Wuxian didn't feel any danger from the aura of the man across from him.
The man turned and faced Wuxian, still not saying a word. Wuxian could see the mans beautiful facial features sharpened from the moon's light. He could see the gold in his eyes. The man in white looked at him in a way that would scare someone off; a cold expression and eyes slightly narrow, but Wuxian was not frightened, in fact, he was quite the opposite. Felt secure, and calm. He didn't know why he felt that way, he just did.
"Who are you?" a deep angelic baritone of a voice came from the man in white. The man still stood firm in his place but his grip tightened on his sword.
"I didn't mean to trespass," Wuxian stated, "I was staying at an inn in town and could not sleep. So I went for a walk and wandered here and started meditating. I did not mean any harm."
"Mnn," Said the man in white, "but who are you?"
"Uh, My name is Wei Ying, courtesy name Wuxian, grandson and disciple of Baoshan Sanran."
The man didn't say anything and slowly started to approach Wuxian. He hopped from stone to stone as he reached the other side of the river and stood face to face with Wuxian. Wuxian did not feel intimidated and just stood in his place.
"So it is you," The man said.
"I don't know what you are talking about," Wuxian said, shaking his head slowly.
"It seems you will know in the morning when we meet again in Cloud Recesses," The man said, "After all, I was told you were coming."
Wuxian nodded and didn't say anything. The man then bowed his head slightly along with Wuxian and then walked off across the river again and disappeared. Wuxian didn't know how to comprehend what just happened, but he wanted to see him again. Wuxian smiled at the direction the man went before turning back and heading to the inn for the rest of the night.
