Wei Wuxian laid there in his bed at the inn he stayed at staring at the ceiling. All that was on his mind was the beautiful man in white robes and a forehead ribbon. He wanted to see him again. It's been a few hours since they met and then separated but Wuxian was curious on who he was. He had a guess that the man was a disciple of the Gusu Lan Clan, just based off the cloud like patterns that were on the man's robes. Wuxian laid there that whole night just replaying that encounter, not getting any sleep as his mind was too busy.
Before he started making his way to Cloud Recesses, Xingchen and Song Lan had said their farewells to Wuxian. Ascending the stone steps all Wuxian could do was be in awe. It was a beautiful and calming area. As he approached the main gate, there was a small group of people handing over their invitations to enter the grounds.
A young man and woman in purple robes greeted, "Yunmeng Jiang Clan, heir, Jiang Cheng, and this is my Elder Sister, Jiang Yanli."
Wuxian smiled at the two siblings as he entered their peripherals. The two looked at Wuxian and seemed to be a bit taken back by Wuxian's beauty. Entranced by his plush pink lips, fair jade white skin, silver orbs for eyes, and a cute little mole just below his bottom lip. His robes he wore, just like his grandmother, red undergarments and Black robes and topped with a red ribbon tying his hair up in place to have a better view of his face.
"Hello," Wuxian greeted and handed in his invitation, "I am Wei Ying, courtesy name, Wuxian, grandson and disciple of Baoshan Sanren."
"Welcome, Young Master Wei," said the man at the gate, "all of you may head inside."
Wuxian nodded as he looked back at the two siblings with his heartwarming smile. The two seemed friendly, "hope we can speak again," Wuxian told them.
"Of course," Yanli said, "I am Jiang Yanli, and this is my little brother Jiang Cheng. We are from Yunmeng."
"It's nice to meet you both," Wuxian walked beside them and continued to speak, "What is it like in Yunmeng? I heard it's a nice place."
"It's fairly lively and we are known for being friendly and outgoing towards each other," Cheng said, "if you want, you can visit at some point."
Wuxian's smile grew bigger flashing his pearl white teeth, "of course."
"If you ever want to hang out, talk, or need something, feel free to come to one of us, we would love to be friends," Yanli said, "in fact, you can call me Shijie if you like."
"Really?" Wuxian asked, "I'm an only child so being able to call you sister is very kind. But we barely know each other."
"I can tell you have a pure and warm heart," Yanli said, "I really don't mind. But if you are uncomfortable you can call me Yanli or A'li."
"I would be honored to call you Shijie," Wuxian said.
Yanli nodded and the three kept up conversations as they made their way to the main hall. There, the Sect Leader, Lan Xichen or Zewu Jun, Grandmaster Lan Qiren, and Second Young Masted Lan Wangji or Hanguang Jun, were all waiting and greeted the disciples as they entered Cloud Recesses. Jiang Cheng and Yanli greeted the three and then a young disciple appeared to show them to their living quarters. Wuxian smiled at the siblings and gestured a small wave as they left.
Wuxian then looked back at the three main blood men of Gusu and saluted with a bow, "Hello."
"Welcome to Cloud Recesses," Sect leader Lan greeted with a gentle welcoming smile, "what is your name and sect?"
"I am Wei Ying, courtesy name Wuxian, and I am actually living with my Grandmother Baoshan Sanren, who I am also a disciple of."
Wuxian felt the older man look him over as he stroked his beard, "Wei Wuxian," he said, "Welcome to Gusu, I do hope you have a nice stay during your time here. I have to say, you definitely look like your mother."
Wuxian was now curious because there was someone who knew his mother. Anyone who did, Wuxian felt as if he wanted to know how they knew her and what she was like around them.
"You knew my mother?" Wuxian asked, "May I ask what she was like?"
"She was a lively and mischievous woman, but kind all the same," Grandmaster answered, "I do not mind if you want to sit and chat about her sometime during your stay."
Wuxian smiled, "I would like that, thank you."
"So," Lan Xichen chimed in, "of course we have a lot of rules to follow and we do hope you keep to them and learn them well. My young brother Wangji will show you to your living quarters."
Wuxian nodded. He felt welcomed by the sect leader. He seemed very kind, his appearance was of course as what others have detailed. Handsome, skin of jade, tall and refined. He had a gentle demeanor on him and seemed welcoming.
He then looked at his brother, "the man in white?" Wuxian thought, "He was the second Young master. Looking at the two brothers, I now know why they seem to be known as, The Twin Jades."
"Follow me," the man in white, Second Young Master Lan Wangji, had said and started on his way. Wuxian followed closely behind, "as something to keep in mind, curfew is at 7, if you are outside of Cloud Recesses during that time, you will have to wait until morning to re-enter and then take a suitable punishment for being out after hours. We are expecting to be in bed by 9 pm and wake at 5am, breakfast at 6 and classes start at 7. You are expected to be on time or you will also be punished accordingly."
Wuxian suddenly felt a bit suffocated with the information provided. He quietly sighed and just gave him a head nod when Lan Zhan looked his way. Wuxian wasn't the one to normally stay quiet but he felt nervous all of a sudden. The mask that he usually wears, his heartwarming smile, seemed to be having a hard time covering his nerves. He needed to regroup his thoughts.
"Uh," Wuxian started to realize that the main living quarters were in a different direction, "I thought we were heading to the living quarters. Where are we going?"
Lan Zhan stopped and turned to Wei Ying, "since there are a lot of disciples in this study session, living arrangements had to be adjusted. Also, as you are not from a main sect and have a well known master, my brother and I thought it would be nice to give you a nice place to stay and feel at ease from other cultivators."
"Huh?" Wuxian asked, "I mean I appreciate the generous offer, but I didn't really want to be treated any differently from any other ordinary student. I don't really want to bring any special attention to myself."
"We know that," Lan Zhan said, "but most of the sects that came have others with them making it easier to fill space. Since you are alone, we made arrangements so you wouldn't be."
"Okay," Wuxian said, "so where is that to be then?"
"You are staying at the Jingshi," Lan Zhan answered, "which is also where I reside."
Wuxian seemed a bit taken back by what he had just heard. He had heard rumors that no one is allowed in the Jingshi without permission or others haven't been able to enter the place. So why was Wuxian the one to surpass that rumor and be able to enter? He felt as if there was more to it then just being away from the main living quarters for the Sects.
He also heard rumors that Lan Wangji was very cold and distant from others and did not interact with others casually. Lan Wangji did look as if he had no emotion on his face and seemed to be hard to read. Wangji was in charge of discipline. Wuxian knew it was going to be an interesting stay while at Cloud Recesses. Without any further discussion, Wuxian just followed Lan Zhan to The Jingshi.
