Lan Wangji, a man who is as beautiful as the morning sun shining on a blanket of fresh snow. The Second Young Master Lan, known for being wherever chaos is. His older brother and Sect leader of the Lan Clan, Lan Xichen, is the only person to understand his little brother the most. Wangji has been known for his lack of expression and words. The two brothers were known to be The Twin Jades of the GusuLan Clan.
When he was young, once a month he would go spend time with his mother. Even while studying he looked forward to seeing her. She would often tease him to try and get a response or expression out of him but he did not budge. He loved her presence though, he loved her warmth and her smile. He loved hearing her talk as he studied.
One day, Grandmaster Lan Qiren, also known as the uncle to Xichen and Wangji, told them they do not need to go visit their mother anymore. Xichen understood, but since Wangji was a bit younger, he did not understand what that meant. He would still go to the *Jingshi each month and wait for the door to open. To see the woman who keeps his heart warm. The longer he waited, the colder his heart became and the more distant he was.
Even after he finally understood the door would no longer open, Wangji would still go and wait outside the door. He would get punished often for it by his Uncle to hopefully persuade him to stop going to wait outside the door. Eventually he no longer knew what the warm feeling was that his mother gave him. It disappeared and he started to only focus on his studies and cultivation. Wangji was very disciplined and was very MUCH, stuck to the rules of Cloud Recesses. Because he stuck to them so well, he came to be a favorite and very promising disciple to his Uncle, which in turn, allowed Wangji to be in charge of Discipline and punishments.
People would often admire the beautiful Jade from a distance but also proceeded to do so with caution. Wangji always shows a face of coldness and sometimes looks angry or threatening. It was never his intention to do so but it was something Lan Wangji got used to over time. So he kept to himself. If he needed advice, he would seek his brother. Even though Wangji would say very little, his older brother still understood him and knew how to converse with him.
Lan Xichen always hoped that his brother would loosen up a bit or even make some friends. But he knew how hard it was for him because of how often people misunderstood Wangji's cold demeanor. Wangji actually had a wonderful heart, and if a person could capture it, you would be his world and he would protect them at all costs. Wangji cared for his brother and his uncle, though he may not offer comfort or express verbally, but his actions would prove otherwise.
One day as Wangji spent time in the library, a disciple stopped in to tell him that his brother was wanting to meet. So Wangji quickly finished and cleaned up after himself in the library then made his way to his brother place, *Hanshi.
"Brother?" Wangji greeted him with a knock.
"Wangji, come in and sit," Xichen stated as he poured a cup of tea for his brother. Xichen gave his brother a moment to get comfortable before speaking again, "I just wanted to remind you that invitations to the sects have been sent."
"Mn" Wangji nodded.
"Because of the amount of disciples, are you willing to allow one person to share Jingshi with you during classes?" Xichen asked. He looked into Wangji's eyes, he could tell that his brother was willing but he seemed on edge, "I will make sure that the person is good to stay with you, unless you want me to give you a list of people I had in mind for you and you choose?"
"If I agree, I would like to choose who stays in Jingshi with me," Wangji stated.
Xichen handed him a scroll that had a list of names that he felt suitable for Wangji, "I can give you two days to think it over. I need to know as soon as the disciples will be here in a few weeks."
"Why did you invite a rogue cultivator?" Wangji asked, "he isn't in a sect. How is he to be invited?"
"Uncle brought it up. Even though it might have been difficult to reach the place, we wanted to send an invitation to Celestial Mountain. So not necessarily a rogue cultivator," Xichen answered, "Boashan Sanran took in a couple disciples over the years and being so, they haven't had much experience outside the mountain. I put them on the list thinking you would be willing to show them around and help them adjust to being in a sect."
Wangji nodded, "I will choose the head disciple then, seeing as he may be most disciplined, and respectable to the rules in my space," he stated and then stood, "I am needed by Uncle soon."
"Okay, I will get things set up," Xichen said, "I Hope with other sects here you open up a little and make some friends. Maybe your roommate will be a friend."
Wangji didn't say anything. He bowed at his brother before making his way to the main hall where his uncle was. He was to help Qiren with setting up the materials he planned to lecture when the disciples are to arrive.
