Chapter Twenty: Prisoner of Azkaban

It was finally the day that everyone headed back to Hogwarts and both Draco and I were making sure that we had everything we needed and packed before the both of us made it downstairs to see our parents waiting for us, “you two ready to go?” our mother asked us and we both nodded, “you have everything you need?” she asked us, “yes mother” we both said to her and she smiled a little before we managed to leave the house and made our way to the Train Station and by the time we got there we said goodbye to our parents before we had gotten on the train and sat with Crabbe, Goyal and Pansy as the five of us talked the entire time and what we had done over the Summer before the train had stopped for some reason, “why’s the train stopping. I don’t think we’re there yet.” I mentioned to them, “we’re not, but I’m starting to wonder the same thing.” Crabbe said to us before everything went cold, “it’s bloody freezing.” I mentioned to them before we saw something on the other side of the sliding door as it slowly opened the door and I noticed that it was a Dementor, “it’s a Dementor.” I said to them in a whisper as it looked at us before leaving as it continued to look for the train and I let out a shaky sigh as I wrapped my sweater tighter around me as I started getting colder and after a while, the train started up again and I looked out of the window as it was raining and I began to wonder why the Dementor’s were searching the train before I heard the name Sirius Black that had brought my attention, “what about Sirius Black?” I asked them, “I heard about Sirius Black breaking out of Azkaban recently and that was why the Dementor’s were searching the train.” Pansy said to me, “oh, I haven’t read the Daily Prophet recently so this is news to me.” I told her and she shrugged a little, “well now you know in case he decides to come near the school any time soon.” she said to me and I just nodded as I continued to look out of the window.

By the time we had gotten to the Platform, everyone started getting off the train and onto the carriages and Draco, myself, Crabbe and Goyal managed to fit onto one of them as the four of continued to talk about Sirius Black, “I’m just remembering this now but isn’t he one of mums cousins or something?” I asked Draco and he nodded, “I think so, they both shared the same last name before she married Father.” he told me and I shrugged, “bloody hell, then I guess we’re related to a murderer.” I said to him and after a while longer, we managed to get to the Castle and went to our Common Room and changed into our Robes before heading to the Great Hall for the feast and not long after the Sorting Ceremony had begun for the first years as they were all eventually sorted into their houses before we all heard Dumbledore speak up, “Welcome. Welcome to another year at Hogwarts. Now, I’d like to say a few words before we all become too befuddled by our excellent feast. First, I’m pleased to welcome Professor R.J Lupin who’s kindly consented to fill the post of Defense Against the Darks teacher. Good luck, Professor” Dumbledore said as he introduced the man as he stood up and we all clapped before Dumbledore spoke up again while Draco teased Harry about him fainting, “Potter. Potter. Is it true you fainted? I mean you actually fainted.” he said to him and I rolled my eyes a little, “leave him alone will you” I said to him as we continued to pay attention to what Dumbledore was saying, “Our Care of Magical Creatures teacher has decided to retire in order to spend more time with his remaining limbs. Fortunately, I’m delighted to announce that his place will be taken by none other than our own Rubeus Hagrid” Dumbledore said and everyone clapped again as some of us cheered and whistled for him before Dumbledore continued, “finally on a more disquieting note, at the request of the Ministry of Magic Hogwarts will, until further notice, play host to the Dementors of Azkaban until such a time as Sirius Black is captured. The Dementors will be stationed at every entrance to the grounds. Now whilst I’ve been assured that their presence will not disrupt our day to day activities a word of caution. Dementors are vicious creatures. They will not distinguish between the one they hunt and the one who gets in their way. Therefore, I must warn each and every one of you to give them no reason to harm you. It is not in the nature of a Dementor to be forgiving. But you know, happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light.” Dumbledore said before he eventually began the feast and everyone started eating and Draco and I had a few laughs with Crabbe, Goyal and the others before I turned to Harry wanting to make sure that he was alright, “Harry. Harry.” I called his name to get his attention until he finally faced me, “how are you doing?” I asked him and he shrugged, “I’ll be alright. Don’t worry about it.” he said and I smiled a little, “let me know if you need anything alright. I’ll be there” I said to him and he nodded and smiled a little, “thanks.” he said and I nodded before I turned around and continued eating.

After the feast was over, everyone started leaving the Great Hall and Draco and I along with the rest of Slytherin house began to make our way to the Common Room and by the time we got there and someone had said the Password, we all made our way inside and began to do our own thing for the rest of the night and hung out for a while as well. After a while, it was just me in the Common Room as I thought to myself before feeling someone sit down next to me and looked to see that it was Draco, “everything alright?” he asked me and I shrugged a little, “just thinking.” I told him, “what about?” he asked me, “do you think Sirius will ever be able to get into the Castle at some point considering he’s already slipped past the Dementor’s once before?” I asked as I turned my head to look at him and he sighed a little, “I mean, who knows, at this point he could be anywhere.” he told me and I just nodded as I looked back at the fire, “yeah, I guess you’re right.” I told him, sighing a little, “you’re worried aren’t you.” he said and I nodded as I held my knees to my chest, “don’t worry too much alright. If he does, I'm sure that it will be taken care of.” he said to me as I rested my head on his shoulder and the both of us continued to talk for a while longer before the both of us decided to head to our dorms for the night and when I got to mine and got into bed, I decided to read one of the books that I have brought from home for a while before I started getting tired and decided to go to sleep and I had done so as soon as my head hit the pillow.
