Chapter Fifty: Half Blood Prince

Artemis’s P.O.V
It was the last few weeks left of summer and I was forced to leave my room and go with both mother and Draco to Diagon Alley and walked through one of the narrow allies and I stayed close to Draco the entire time until we made it to Borgin and Burkes and from the corner of my eye, I noticed someone walk past and noticed that it was Harry but didn’t say anything as Draco and I walked into the shop and saw some other Death Eater’s were there as well as they walked in as Draco looked over the Cabinet and found out beforehand that it was a Vanishing Cabinet and that the other was inside the school and I stayed close to mother as Draco had looked it over and after a while of talking about it and what he had to do, we eventually left the store and made our way back home and once we did, I decided to write to Fred since I probably won’t be able to for a while and once I was done, I soon sent it with my Owl as it flew out of the window and I began to think about him, hoping that he was doing well considering he had previously told me about the Joke shop he had opened up with George recently and I continued to sit there looking out the window and began to think about everything else as well wondering what was going to happen now that both Draco and I have become Death Eaters before I began to think about what Fred would say to me if he ever found out and that was what I feared the most as I couldn’t bear the thought of losing him now. I was soon brought out of my thoughts when I heard someone knock on the door and looked to see that door opening to reveal Draco before he came in and closed it and walked over to me and sat down, “what were you thinking about?” he asked me and I sighed a little, “about everything. About what Fred would do or say if he found out.” I told him and he sighed a little, “who knows what he will say. But I doubt he’d leave you for something you didn’t have a say in.” he said and I looked out of the window, “how do you know? For all we know he could leave me and never want to talk or see me again” I told him, “I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens then.” he said and I nodded before we continued to talk for a while longer before going to bed for the night.

It was the day we were going back to Hogwarts and I made sure that I had everything that I needed before heading downstairs and saw that Draco and Mother were waiting, “are you ready to go dear?” she asked and I nodded before the three of us left the house and eventually made it to the train station and got on after saying goodbye to mother and Pansy and Blaise sat with us as well, “hey Artemis. How was your summer?” she asked me and I shrugged a little, “it was alright I guess.” I told her not wanting to mention what had happened before the train finally left and after a while, Draco was checking his things before a black like fog filled the entire Train Cabin and everyone began to wonder what was going on and who could have done it, “what was that?” Draco wondered before Pasney spoke up, “relax boys. It’s probably just the First Years messing around. Come on Draco. Sit down, we’ll be at Hogwarts soon.” Pansy said to them before Draco sat down next to me, “Hogwarts. What a pathetic excuse for a school. I think I’d pitch myself off the Astronomy Tower if I thought about continuing for another two years.” Draco said and I looked at him as I furrowed my brows a little, “what’s that supposed to mean?” Pansy asked him, “let’s just say I don’t think I see me wasting my time in Charms class next year.” Draco said to her before Blaise laughed a little, “amused Blaise? Let’s see who’s just laughing in the end.” Draco said to him before Draco and I heard something from above us and saw whatever was above us move a little and after a moment, I began to feel tired and eventually fell asleep with my head on Draco’s shoulder.

Draco’s P.O.V
I noticed Artemis had fallen asleep as I felt her rest her head on my shoulder before hearing Pansy speak up again, “is she alright Draco? She doesn’t look too well.” she asked me, “she’s fine. She just hasn’t been sleeping well recently.” I told her as the train ride continued on as the three of us continued to talk for a while before I began to wonder that it might be Potter above us eavesdropping on our conversation. After a while longer, we had finally made it to the school's train platform and I gently shook Artemis awake, “Arty wake up, we’re here.” I said to her and she started waking up and looked around before the both of us got up and I let her walk out before the three of them stopped and looked at me, “you three go on. I want to check something.” I told them before Blaise and Pansy left, “I’ll wait for you outside.” Artemis told me before she left as I knew for sure that it was Potter listening in on us earlier as I grabbed my bag from above me and walked over to the door and closed it and closed the blinds, “didn’t mummy ever tell you it was rude to eavesdrop.” I said to him before saying a spell causing him to fall to the floor and smirked to myself before walking over to him and taking his cloak off of him.

Artemis’s P.O.V    
After a few moments had passed, I heard a thud from inside the train and I began to wonder what was going on before seeing Draco walk off the train, “what happened. I heard a thud from inside.” I asked him, “Potter. He was eavesdropping on us.” he told me, “he was probably wanting to get information or something. I did notice him when we went to Borgin and Burkes the other day” I said to him, “why didn’t you say anything?” he asked, “I don’t know, I wanted to but I didn’t know what to say. I know they would have done something and probably think one of us told him to spy on us or something.” I told him as we made it to the carriages and got on it, “I guess that could have been a possibility. Let’s talk about it later alright.” he said and I nodded and talked about something else for a while. By the time we had gotten to the gate of the school, we noticed that Aurors were standing by as Mr. Filch began to search our things after we had given Professor Flitwick our names, “what’s this cane here?” Mr. Filch asked Draco, “it’s not a cane, it’s a walking stick.” Draco told him and Mr. Filch wondered why he had it before Snape came over, “it’s alright Mr. Filch, I can vouch for Mr. and Miss. Malfoy.” he said to Mr. Filch before Draco grabbed it from him before we noticed Harry standing there with Luna next to him, “nice face Potter.” Draco said to him before the both of us walked away and made it inside the school and found out that the both of us would be sharing a dorm this year and the both of us had gotten changed into our robes before making our way down to the Great Hall for the feast and once we got there, we sat down with the rest of Slytherin House and eventually went on with the Sorting Ceremony before Dumbledore eventually began to feast and everyone started eating and Draco and I didn’t eat much of our food and after a while, we heard Dumbledore speak up to everyone, “very best of evenings to you all. First off, let me introduce the newest member of our staff, Horace Slughorn. Professor Slughorn, I’m happy to say, has agreed to resume his old post as Potions Master. Meanwhile, the post of Defense Against the Dark Arts will be taken by Professor Snape. Now as you know, each and every one of you were searched upon your arrival here tonight and you have the right to know why. Once, there was a young man, who, like you sat in this very hall, walked this Castle’s corridor’s, stepped under its roof. He seemed to all the world, a student like any other. His name, Tom Riddle. Today of course, he’s known all over the world by another name, which is why as I stand looking out upon you all tonight, I’m reminded of a sobering fact. Everyday, every hour, this very minute perhaps, Dark forces attempt to penetrate this Castle’s walls. But in the end, their greatest weapon is you. Just something to think about. Now off to bed, pip pip.” Dumbledore said to everyone before we all got out of our seats and left the Great Hall.

Once Draco and I made it to the Slytherin Common Room for the rest of the night, the both of us went straight to our shared dorm for the night, “Arty, can I ask you something?” he asked me as I saw him sitting on his bed, “yeah. What is it?” I said to him, “if anything were to go the other way, would you promise me that you would stay with Fred and his family.” he said to me and I furrowed my brows a little, “what are you getting at?” I asked him as I sat down next to him, “if this goes bad. As if it won’t go as planned, would you promise me to go to Fred and stay there.” he said and I choked o n my words before finally finding the words to say, “what about you?” I asked him, “forget about me. I don’t care about me, I only care about you.” he said as he stood up and I thought about it for a moment before speaking, “then yeah I would.” I said to him and he just nodded and the both of us had gotten changed for the night before we got into bed, “what do you think will happen if Dumbledore dies?” I wondered, “then they get what they want.” Draco said, “you know, we could always tell them we killed him.” I suggested, “no, they won’t buy it. That’s why he wants me to mend the Vanishing Cabinets cause he wants to send some of the Death Eater’s through to make sure.” he said to me and I furrowed my brows a little, “if anything does happen and we do end up separating, you have to promise me that you will be safe.” I said to him and he just looked at me before nodding, “I promise” he said and we continued to talk for a while longer before the both of us got tired, “we should get some sleep. Especially you since you haven’t been sleeping well.” he told me and I just nodded before I eventually fell asleep that night
