Chapter Fifty Six

Artemis’s P.O.V
It was the next day and Madam Pomfrey had let me out of the Hospital Wing and both Draco and I left and the both of us made it to our Dorm for a while until my owl flew through the Window and I furrowed my brows a little before remembering that Draco had written to Fred beforehand, “is it from Fred?” Draco asked me, “I think so.” I said as I began to open it and saw that it was his handwriting and began to read what it said.

Dear Draco and Artemis,

I have gotten the letter that Draco has sent and it’s alright with me and the rest of the family about Artemis staying at either place. I hope that Artemis is alright and when I see Harry again, I will have a talk with him when I can, so right now, I hope that you guys are doing alright and that Artemis has recovered well. Once Artemis is here, I will promise you Draco that I will keep her safe until you guys see each other again when this is all over. Until then, I hope you guys are doing well and keeping each other safe.

Once I finished reading the letter, I gave it to Draco since it was addressed to the both of us and sat down next to him on the bed, “I’m sure you’ll know what to do when he’s dead right?” he asked me and I nodded, “don’t worry about me alright. I’m worried about you since you’re the one that has to kill him.” I said to him, “I know, but please promise not to follow when I leave with the others.” he said and I nodded and the both of us stood up and hugged each other as we stayed like that for a while, “be safe brother.” I whispered to him, “be safe little sister.” he said back before he soon left the room and once he closed the door, I let out a heavy and shaky sigh as I soon sat back down on the bed and tried to calm myself down and soon decided to rush out of the room and left the Common Room as I heard Pansy calling my name but I ignored her and eventually bumped into Snape, “where’s your brother?” He asked me, “He said he was going to do what he was supposed to do.” I told him before he walked off, “what’s going to happen?” I asked him, causing him to stop walking and turned around and came closer, “let’s just say that Draco won’t be the one to kill Dumbledore.” was all he said before walking off and I furrowed my brows a little as I decided to follow him only to be led to the Astronomy Tower as I kept my distance until he walked up stairs and I slowly walked up to Harry as he noticed me, “we’ll talk later.” I whispered to him and he just nodded before hearing Sape speak up, “no.” he said to the others that were up there and there was a moment of silence before the worst had happened, “Avada Kedavra” Snape said killing Dumbledore and I jumped a little as I was hoping that he was joking before as Harry and I watched Dumbledore fall off the ledge, “we have to go Harry. We can’t stay here.” I whispered to him and waited for the others before getting some distance and finally left, “do you believe me now, Harry. I told you neither of us had a choice in any of this.” I said to him as we rushed through the halls and followed the others, “yes. Yes I believe you, your brother was hesitant about killing Dumbledore. He was about to lower his wand before Bellatrix and the others came.” he said as we made it outside, “are you sure you should be following them. You don’t stand a chance.” I told him, “it’s worth a shot. He will get what he deserves for killing Dumbledore.” he said as we rushed through the forest and down a hill, “I hope you’re right.” I told him.

Once we managed to make it out of the forest, we both noticed Snape and the others as they were walking toward Hagrids, “SNAPE. HE TRUSTED YOU.” Harry shouted and I tried pulling him back, “you’re going to get yourself killed.” I said to him but he ignored me before seeing Bellatrix set Hagrid's home on fire causing me to stop hoping that Hagrid wasn’t in there and noticed Harry attack Snape, “FIGHT BACK. YOU COWARD. FIGHT BACK” Harry shouted again before Aunt Bellatrix attacked him causing Harry to land on his back, “he belongs to the Dark Lord and so does she.” Snape said to her before she walked away and Snape was about to do the same before I decided to attack him as well only for him to block it, “I will never go to him and you know that.” was all I said to Snape before he managed to attack me as well and I was about to block it but I was too late and I soon landed on my back groaning a little before Snape walked up to the both of us, “you dare use my own spells against me. Yes, I’m the Half Blood Prince.” Snape told us before kicking our wands away, “you and I both know Voldemort won’t win without me to help him. But since I won’t join him, he will lose and you know it.” I told Snape and he just stood there staring at me, “we will see about that.” was all he said before walking away. After a while, I managed to get up and soon held out my hand and helped Harry stand up as well, “what did you mean when Voldemort won’t win unless he had you?” he asked me before he had a shocked look on his face, “your eyes. Why are they like that?” he asked, “I’m different in many ways. I’m stronger than both Voldemort and Dumbledore combined and that’s why Voldemort wants me because he wants to use me to kill you. Do you have any Idea what it’s like to not have a choice. Why did you think Draco and I became Death Eaters.” I told him and he thought about it, “you told us neither of you had a choice in any of it. That Voldemort threatened the both of you.” he said and I nodded, “then let’s hope he doesn’t get to you then. I also want to apologize for what happened the other day in the bathroom, I guess it all got to me pretty good that it blocked everything else out.” he told me and I nodded, “well, I guess you should have said that before Draco told Fred because I reckon he’s going to want to have a talk with you about it.” I told him as we both made it back to the Castle, “I guess he won’t be happy about it.” I said and I nodded, “you guess correctly, Potter. But I will try to reason with him about not having to fight with you about it.” I told him, “that would be great. It’s bad enough that Voldemort wants me dead.” he said as we continued walking.

By the time we got back to the Castle, the both of us eventually walked through a crowd of people before seeing Dumbledore’s lifeless body lying on the ground and I stood next to Hermione as Harry walked up to the body and I began to feel bad for Harry since he lost everyone that was close to him so far and Ginny soon went up to him and hugged him not saying anything as she tried to comfort him as best she could and I soon felt a tear slip down my cheek before I noticed Professor McGonagall raise her wand to the sky and I had done the same before the others started to join in as well and after a moment had past, everyone lowered their wands and eventually, Professor McGonagall and the rest of the teachers managed to get everyone to go back to their House Common Rooms for the rest of the night and I was about to do the same before Harry, Ron and Hermione walked up to me, “where’s your brother?” Ron asked me, “I’d rather not talk about it to be honest since I’m sure Harry will tell you everything that pretty much happened before Dumbledore’s death.” I said to him, “So everything you said was true I assume?” Hermione asked me and I nodded, “she was telling the truth.” Harry told them and Hermione and Ron just looked at each other, “bloody hell” was all Ron said. I soon went to mine and Draco’s Dorm for a while and once I got there, I let out a sigh knowing that I won’t see him for a while before I began to think about what might happen now that Dumbleore was dead and Voldemort had gotten what he wanted and I was soon brought out of my thoughts when I heard someone knock on the door, “come in.” I said to them before hearing them open the door and closing it and I looked to see that it was Pansy, “I didn’t see Draco come back with you. Is everything alright?” she said to me, “I don’t want to talk about it.” I told her before she sat down next to me, “what’s wrong Artemis. You know you can tell me right and Blaise too.” she told me.” I know, it’s just. Everything going on right now is too much to explain and I’m really tired to do so.” I told her and she nodded, “alright then. Remember that we’re here for you alright.” she said and I nodded before she got up and left the room and I soon laid down on the bed and began to cry to myself after I managed to lock the door before I tried to keep quiet as I cried harder until it caused me to fall asleep later one.

I later woke up to see that the sun was up and I slowly got out of bed and rubbed my eyes a little before I decided to leave the room and eventually left the Common Room and decided to make my way to the Astronomy Tower and by the time I had gotten there, I saw that Harry, Ron and Hermione were already there as the three of them talked to each other before they noticed me, “sorry. Did I interrupt something?” I asked them and they all shook their heads, “are you alright Artemis? It looks like you’ve been crying.” Hermione asked me and I nodded, “I was. I guess I just had to let it all out I suppose.” I told them as Isat down next to Ron, “Harry told us everything that happened before Dumbledore Died.” Ron mentioned and I nodded, “alright then. What are you guys planning on doing?” I asked them, “I plan on finding the rest of the Horcruxes. Dumbledore left it for me to finish. And I don’t plan on coming back until I do.” Harry said as he turned around, “well, I doubt you’d get very far on your own. I’m sure Ron and Hermione had said the same thing.” I told him and he nodded, “they did. Well, more like Hermione did actually.” Harry said, “I figured as much. You’re definitely going to need her to help you.” I told him and they chuckled a little. After a while longer, the four of us eventually left the Astronomy Tower, “what are you going to do now Artemis. Since I’m assuming you’re not going home.” Hermione asked me and I sighed before Ron spoke up, “mum agreed with Draco to let her stay for a while if she wanted.” he told Hermione and she nodded, “well I’m glad you have somewhere to go for the time being.” Hermione said and I had decided to go to my dorm for a while and decided to pack my trunk since we leave tomorrow and by the time I was done I decided to write to Draco that we should keep in touch with each other unless we burn the letters once we finished reading them and by the time I finished writing it, I sent it off after giving my owl some treats before she flew out the window. Later that night, I spent most of the night thinking since I couldn’t sleep until I felt tired and finally decided to go to bed for the night and once my head touched the pillow, I fell into a deep sleep.
