Chapter Fifty Four

Artemis’s P.O.V
The Holiday’s were officially over and school had started back up again and everyone was wandering the halls as some were talking to others and like always, both Draco and I would go to the Room of Requirement after classes were over for the day and once we were done for now, both Draco and I managed to sneak in some kind of poison into the Bottle that Professor Slughorn was planning to give to Dumbledore before we eventually made it back to the Common Room as if nothing happened and when we were about to get straight to our dorm for the night, we were both stopped by Pansy and Blaise. “Alright, what is up with the both of you? You both have been pushing us away and ignoring us since school started.” Pansy told us and I sighed a little, “we have a lot going on right now and I don’t want to talk about it.” I told her before she looked at Draco, “she’s right and I don’t want to talk about it either.” he said to her, “can we at least know that the both of you are alright?” she asked and we both nodded, “we’re fine Pansy.” he told her before they let us leave and we made it to our dorm for the night, “do you really think they mean well? I mean, that was the first time they’ve decided to check up on us since school started.” I said to him as we sat on our beds, “who knows at this point Arty.” he said and I eventually did my homework and helped Draco with his as well so our grades weren’t a complete mess. By the time we were done, the both of us went down to the Great Hall along with the rest of the school and we talked amongst ourselves not really wanting to talk to anyone else as the both of us ate something and once dinner was over, everyone left the Great Hall and went back to their Common Rooms for the rest of the night but instead, I had gone right to the Astronomy Tower as I wanted to be alone for a while and once I got there, I sat down as my feet dangled off the ledge and began to think about everything that had happened the last few months before I heard footsteps and looked to see that it was Draco as he soon sat down next to me, “everything alright?” he asked me and I sighed a little, “I want to say yes but at this point, I think it’s way past that to be honest.” I told him, “I don’t blame you. I feel the same way most of the time ever since we were assigned to do this.” he said and I rested my head on his shoulder, “I wish we could just run away and hide from everything and everyone until all of this is over.” I told him, “Me too.” he said and we stayed silent for the rest of the time we were there until the both of us decided to go to the Common Room for the night and once we got there, we went straight to our Dorm for the rest of the night. 

It was another day and I overheard Harry and Hermione talking to each other as they were talking about how Ron was poisoned the night before and followed them to the Hospital Wing and decided to keep my distance for now until I saw, Professor Snape, Professor McGonagall and Dumbledore walk inside and I soon and I heard that they were about to leave to Hospital Wing so I decided to leave before they came out and saw me there listening and quickly went to find Draco before finding him in our Dorm and was panting a little as he looked at me, “did Dumbledore drink it?” he asked me and I shook my head, “no. I overheard Harry and Hermione talking about it and found out that Slughorn had offered them some the night before and Ron drank some before Harry and Slughorn had and I’m assuming you know what happens after that but Harry managed to save him from dying.” I told him and he let out a heavy sigh, “we’re never going to be able to get this done.” he said as he rubbed his eyes, “let’s not stress about it too much, we’ve been doing too much of that lately. I’m sure we’ll get it done by the end of the year. I hope.” I said to him and he nodded, “I guess you’re right. We just have to keep coming up with stuff to do so.” he said and I agreed and eventually, the both of us left the Common Room and made our way to the Room of Requirement and I began to hear another pair of footsteps, “we’re being followed.” I whispered to Draco as we made it up to the bird cage and took out one of the birds, “is it Harry?” he asked, “most likely.” I told him as we stood outside and the door appeared and the both of us soon walked inside and made it to the Vanishing Cabinet before Draco had given me the small bird before he took off the covering and opened the door and I soon put the bird inside before Draco closed it before he noticed a feather on his sleeve before we heard the bird disappear and opened the door and saw that it was gone and Draco and I just looked at each other before he closed the door again and waited for the bird to come back and once it did, we opened it back up only to see that it was dead and Draco just walked away and I soon followed before I saw him sitting there with his knees to his chest before he started crying and I soon sat with him and began to cry a little myself not knowing what to say or do, “I just want this to end.” he managed to say, “I know, you’re not the only one to feel that way.” I told him as I hugged him, “but if I do, he’ll kill you.” he said and I began to cry a little more and I didn’t have the words to comfort him they way I wanted to which made me feel bad, “we should get back to our Dorm for the night.” I told him as he began to calm down a little, “I guess. Let’s go then.” he said and the both of us got up and left the Room of Requirement.

We finally made it back to our Dorm, ignoring Crabbe, Goyal, Pansy and Blaise as neither of us wanted to talk to any of them and eventually walked into our room and stayed there, “how are you feeling?” I asked him as he sat down on his bed, “I don’t know to be honest.” he told me and I sat down next to him on the bed and he rested his head on my shoulder, “everything will be alright in the end.” I told him, “I hope you’re right, otherwise all of this would have been for nothing.” he said and I hugged him a little, “I hope I am too.” I told him and the both of us just talked about everything ended up not going to dinner that night either and I soon began to think about Freddie wondering how he was doing since I haven’t heard from him since the Holidays before my mind went to the night of my first time with him and it put a small smile on my face as I sat there and since I couldn’t sleep, I decided to sit at the desk we had in our dorm and I just doddled not wanting to leave the room before hearing Draco speak up, “how are you feeling?” he asked me and I shrugged a little, “can’t sleep. You?” I said to him, “same.” he said as he sat down next to me, “what would you do if this ended up going the way it should?” I asked him, “I don’t know. but if we end up going back home to Voldemort and the others, I want you to go to the Weasley’s or to Fred’s do you understand. I’ve already been thinking about writing to them about it as well and telling them everything that’s happened.” he said and I furrowed my brows a little, “but what about you?” I asked him, “I don’t care about myself. I just want you to be safe if things go wrong or worse.” he said and I shook my head a little, “but then you’d be alone.” I said to him, “and I’m alright with that. I heard father got out of Azkaban recently and mother told me she noticed that he seemed different, scared almost. As if he didn’t want to be on his side either.” he told me, “when did mother tell you this?” I asked him, a few days ago. I didn’t know how you’d take it so I didn’t say anything. But she said that he didn’t want you coming back either because they both know Voldemort would use you the second you get back. So that’s why I’m telling you this now.” he told me and I didn’t know what to say, “promise me you will go to the Weasley’s. Promise me you’ll go to them when this is over.” he said to me and afer a moment, I nodded not knowing what to say at this point before I finally spoke up, “Fine, I’ll go but you write to me about everything that’s going on alright. Please say you’ll write to me.” I said to him and he nodded and relief washed over me, “I promise.” he said and I smiled a little before the both of us hugged each other before the relief soon went away and the worry came back as Draco and I have never been separated before besides this past Christmas and the both of us talked for a while longer until we both started to feel tired and decided to go to bed for the night since it was later than either of us thought it was and as soon as my head hit the pillow, I fell asleep
