Chapter Twenty Four

Artemis’s P.O.V
It was another day and Spring was close as the snow was melting and I was in the Library doing some last minute homework before I felt someone tap my shoulder and I looked to see that it was Hermione and I smiled a little, “hey, what’s up?” I asked her as she sat down next to me, “I was wondering if you wanted to come with me, Harry and Ron to go and see how Hagrid is doing. He had a hearing today about Buckbeak.” she told me and I sighed a little, “yeah. I want to know how he’s doing. My father probably got him sacked or something.” I said to her as I cleaned up everything and put the books back before I had gone to put my homework back and eventually met up with Harry and Ron as the four of us managed to leave the Castle, “beautiful day.” Hermione mentioned, “Gorgeous. Unless of course you’ve been ripped to pieces.” Ron said to her, “what are you on about?” I asked him wondering why he was getting upset, “Ripped to pieces? What are you talking about?” Harry asked him, “Ronald has lost his rat.” Hermione told us, “I haven’t lost anything. Your cat killed him.” Ron told her and I sighed a little, “is it always like this?” I asked Harry as I whispered to him, “yeah pretty much.” he told me and I shrugged a little, “Harry, Artemis, you’ve seen the way that blood thirsty beast of hers is always lurking about. And Scabbers is gone.” Ron told us, “well, maybe you should learn how to take better care of your pets.” Hermione told him, “your cat killed him.” Ron said again, “ok hold on, what if Hermione is right and Scabbers might have just gotten lost somewhere. I mean, there isn’t proof that Crookshanks had done anything to him. Well, not yet anyways and if he did, we won’t know until he you know, until it comes out the other end.” I said to Ron and they just looked at me before looking at each other, “she’s right.” Hermione said before we continued walking.

We eventually made it to Hagrids to see that he was in the Lake skipping rocks, “how are you feeling Hagrid?” I asked him wondering, “yeah, how did it go, Hagrid? The hearing?” Hermione asked him, “well, first off, the committee members took turns talking about why we were there. And then I got up and did my piece. Said how Buckbeak was a good Hippogriff, always cleaned his feathers. And then Lucius Malfoy got up. Well, you can imagine. He said Buckbeak was a deadly and Dangerous creature who would kill ya as soon as he looked at you.” Hagrid told us and I felt bad for him, “and then?” Hermione asked him, “and then he asked for the worst, did old Lucius.” Hagrid began before Ron spoke up, “they’re not sacking you?” Ron asked him, “no, I’m not sacked. Buckbeak’s been sentenced to death.” Hagrid said to us and there was a moment of silence before I decided to speak up, “I’m sorry. If Draco hadn’t done what he did and I got in the way of him getting hurt, none of this would have happened.” I said to Hagrid feeling guilty, “oh, it’s not your fault Artemis, you were only trying to protect your brother from getting hurt. You may be a Malfoy, but I know that you will always put others before yourself I know that for a fact because I have seen you with the three of them.” he said to me and I smiled a little and we continued to hang out with Hagrid for a while longer as we had a few laughs as well before we decided to make our way back to the Castle and at some point after we had gone our separate ways for the day, I had bumped into Fred and I smiled a little, “hey Fred, how’s your day going.” I said to him as we walked side by side, “it’s going pretty well. How about yours?” he said and I smiled a little, “it’s alright, besides finding out about what’s happened to Hagrid's Hippogriff.” I said to him thinking about what Hagrid told us, “I’m sorry to hear that. Do you want to talk about it?” he asked and I sighed and as we made it to the Astronomy Tower, I told him everything Hagrid to myself, Harry, Ron and Hermione when we went to talk to him as we just sat there talking to each other not thinking or mentioning Sirius Black or anything else and he made me laugh as well until there was a moment of silence as the both of us looked out at the view of everything, “it’s Beautiful out here isn’t it” I said to him smiling a little, “yeah, it is.” he said and I looked to see that he was looking at me and I blushed a little when I quickly looked away and heard him chuckle a little, “you’re cute when you blush.” he said to me causing me to blush some more, “you’re just saying that to be nice.” I said to him not wanting to believe it, “what if I’m not? What if I meant differently?” he asked me and I just looked at him not knowing what to say, “so you meant what you said?” I asked him and he nodded, causing me to smile, “thanks then. That means a lot.” I told him before we both noticed that it was getting dark out and we both decided to leave the Astronomy Tower and we continued to talk until we made it back to my Common Room, “see you later.” I said to him smiling, “see you later Artemis.” he said to me before he walked away and I made it into the Common Room and just sat down and thought to myself with a smile on my face.

It was another day and I was in Divination along with Harry and Ron and the other third years as we all had Crystal Balls in front of us, “Broaden your minds. You must look beyond. The art of Crystal Gazing is in the clearing of the inner eye. Only then can you see. Try again.” Professor Trelawney said before walking over to Harry and Ron, “Now, what do we have here?” she asked them before I noticed that Hermione was sitting with them before she spoke up, “do you mind me trying?” she asked, “the Grim, possibly.” Hermione said and I was confused why she wanted to know about it, “my dear, from the first moment you stepped foot into my class, I sensed that you did not possess the proper spirit for the noble art of Divination. No, you see, there. You may be young in years, but the heart that beats beneath your bosezum is as shriveled as an old maid’s, your soul as dry of the pages of the books to which you so desperately cleave.” I heard Professor Trelawney say to her before Hermione got upset and knocked the Crystal Ball off of the table before walking away and leaving the room and I had gotten confused, “Have I said something?” Professor Trelawney questioned, “bloody hell was that all about?” I whispered to Ron and Harry and they both just shrugged in confusion as well and when the class was over for the day, I was walking with Harry and Ron down the spiral staircase as we talked about what happened, “she’s gone mental, Hermione had. I mean, not that she wasn’t always mental but now it’s in the open for everyone to see.” Ron said to us, “oh come on, I’m sure whatever Professor Trelawney said must have offended her somehow.” I said to him before Harry spoke up, “hang on.” He said before we saw him pick up a Crystal Ball, “we better take this back.” Harry said to us, “I’m not going back there.” Ron said to him before Harry looked at me, “she may be one of my favorite professors but she can be all sorts of creepy.” I told him, “fine. See you later.” Harry said to us, “See you.” Ron and I both said to him before we continued walking down the stairs as we both walked to Hagrid’s class together, “you might be right though about Hermione, but she’s still mental sometimes.” Ron said and eventually made it to Hagrid’s.
