"You can stop staring, I'm not going anywhere."

The last twenty-four hours have been hell. I get why most girls would love to marry into a rich family, but when one's already rich and had no wishes to get married, it ruins the mood. My sister is going to murder me, and my parents will be happy, and both relieved as they truly believed I would die alone. If I had it my way, I would have been a spinster. Parker's not going to be the happiest, he'll have to have his say. The moral of the story, changing is exhausting. Especially when you have a family like mine where everyone must speak their truth. It always made such fun for game night.

"What exactly has Kai said, about us?" Blake asks as he watches me with curiosity. I stand five feet away from him as he advised me I couldn't sit otherwise the dress would wrinkle. The worst part of that, I listened to his advice. "Kai hasn't said much," I say with a smile, Blake's eyes meet mine and unlike his brothers, his are a shade of green. Almost like my own. "Why did you marry him then? If I'm assuming you didn't know he was rich," Blake speaks in a formal manner, unlike Kai. From the moment I've been with Kai, sober, that is, he's always spoken in a code of some sort. As if he's speaking in riddles.

"I don't know," I admit as I lower my gaze to peel off the remaining red nail polish. "You must," Blake pushes for an answer, "I don't," I say again. "I was drunk, I didn't even know his name," I explain and the realization hits that I married a man I knew nothing about. I don't remember any of that night, Kai must, I should ask him when he returns. "Would you have married him if you knew he was rich?" Blake interrogates. "You must know, I'm rich myself— I have a job back home, I wouldn't need to marry Kai for his money," I say more firmly. I'm not a gold digger, and I refuse to be treated like one.

"And if it were up to me, I would divorce him. Yet, I'm here because I know it took two to get married," I remind Blake of the obvious. If I knew Kai was just an ordinary guy, I can't lie and say I wouldn't be tempted to marry him. Even if it would have lasted less than twenty-four hours, Kai is attractive, he has the whole playboy look most girls adore. "Kai has fucked up," Blake confesses, and I know that. I don't know of their world, it never crossed my mind that the fiction you see in the films, and books could be a reality, Kai's reality. "The West will want retribution, and that's because of the decision you and Kai made," Blake admits and I can see he's trying to appear in a friendlier light, unlike his brother.

"What's your role then?" I question after a moment of silence, it's clear Kians in charge despite Blake being older. "I take on foreign affairs, I normally live elsewhere," Blake says, but he doesn't reveal much. "This was actually my first time being back in the city," Blake admits and I know he must be telling the truth, otherwise why tell me? "Come," Blake stands as he walks out of the room, I know he's waiting behind the door for me, he wouldn't allow me to run. I smooth out my lilac stain dress before following Blake through the Chapel.
