Thirteen days until the gala, thirteen days until I have to pick between my wife, Ashley or my friends.... my family. But Ashley is now my family too, despite what she may believe.

"We could have eaten at the apartment," Ashley said, finally breaking the silence as she glanced at me over her menu. I've chosen to take her out today, whether that's because I'm trying to ease myself into later fucking up our entire relationship. Ashley will no doubt hate me after using her for this plan, but we can move past that, can't we? I know I'll have to do this, I'll have to use Ashley as bait to get to Sofia for Hunters plan, but some part of me doesn't want to. And that right there is a weakness alone, Ashley Bliss is my weakness.

Despite what I wished to argue, I finally found my weakness and it's the women sat across from me who has my ring on her finger.

"It's been a month and a half since Vegas, I assumed it would be a nice gestured," I offered her a smile as I began reading off what I would like. After the waiter left with our order, Ashley remained silent. I couldn't help but check her out, she's beautiful, always has been. Tonight she's got her hair straight, with a darker glow around her eyes, and unlike the times before she's wearing a pair of leather jeans with a tighter top that's dying for attention. Ashley knew what she was doing by choosing that, my eyes have to stay focused on her face otherwise I will end up sitting here staring at her chest, desperately wanting to touch what isn't mine to touch.

"How's your sister?" I asked, my attempt at making small talk. Ashley glanced up at me before taking a sip of her red wine, "I don't know," she said as she shrugged. "I haven't spoken to her since before Vegas," I stared at her and Ashley must have sensed it as she waved a dismissive hand. "I know, you suggested I should but what do I even say?" Ashley laughed, it was a small one and not filled with happiness either. She ran her hands through the length of her hair as she placed her elbows on the table.

"Hey sis!" Ashley voiced, speaking what she would say, "so about before, I went to Vegas— despite your arguments and fun fact, I got married to a man I didn't even know," Ashley shook her head in disbelief. "Your sister loves you no matter what," I uttered, showing a glimpse of kindness, a side of me that I rarely ever show. "Of course you would say, Emilia criticises everything I do," Ashley claimed, her eyes widening slightly. "Everything."

I got lucky with my brothers, despite our fucked up family, they were the best thing because of it. Blake and Kian looked out for me, I remember an argument between Kian and our father many years ago, I didn't stick around long incase they found me out, but I remember Kian arguing on my behalf. How I shouldn't turn out like them, in that moment I realised he would do anything for me. The only time I ever threatened Kian was when it came to him hurting Hunter for information. Eight years ago there was whispers of war breaking out, but thankfully at the time that was all it was— whispers.
