I'll help you through it (requested)

As the end credits of the film began to roll, Dahyun reached for the remote and turned off the film.

It took her back to the home page of the streaming app you're watching different shows and movies on this evening and you thought, at first, she'd either ask you what to watch next or turn something else on.

But to your surprise, she just set the remote down before gently brushing her fingers across your thigh.

"We can take a break now if you want."

"For what?" You asked and she nodded to your cigarette carton on the table.

"I figured you'd want to take a cigarette break. Usually, you do." She said with a small smile.

"Yeah." You said and eyed your pack of cigarettes on the table. "I usually would. But I've been thinking."

"About?"

"Quitting." You said and she raised her eyebrows in response for a second.

"Oh, really? You're sure you want to?"

Of course, if that's what you're ready to do, she'll support you one hundred percent.

But she knows how much you smoke and she knows the topic is a sensitive one and she's not sure how to approach it again.

"I've been doing a lot of thinking about it. About how it doesn't just affect me but also you. You're around me more than anyone else. I don't want to keep smoking and risk you getting sick."

She smiled a little.

"Besides, I go through so many cigarettes these days. I can go through an entire pack in a day. I take so much time out of my day taking cigarette breaks. I know it's unhealthy. I've been smoking for so long and I just know I need to quit. For myself and everyone else around me."

"You know I'll support you through it all."

"Well, I appreciate that. But I might not be all that pleasant to be around all the time when I'm going through withdrawals. It's going to take me some time and I need you to be prepared for the rough days ahead. I need you to help me through it and encourage me when I feel like I have to have one."

"You know I will, sweet girl." She said as she squeezed your knee. "I've got you. I'll help you through it all."

You took a deep breath and reached for your cigarettes before getting up and tossing them into the trash can across the room.

"You're going to look back on these days and be so proud of yourself for quitting. You're so much stronger and so much more capable than you think you are."

"I know. It's going to be tough but this is what I want to do." You said as you stared into her eyes. "I'm ready for this."

"I'm proud of you. You know I'll be here to help you through whatever is ahead. Through the good and the bad, I've got you."

She gave you a hug and rubbed your back as you held onto each other tightly, reassuring you once more that everything will be okay.

Closing your eyes, you let out a heavy sigh.

You know the cravings won't be easy to get through.

You know the road ahead won't be an easy one to get through.

But you know it'll be worth it. It's time to kick this habit.

You'll get there someday soon and, through every moment, you've got your girl by your side to lean on whenever you need.
