scary movies

"What are we watching?" Dahyun asked as she returned from the kitchen with a snack for you to share as you prepare to watch a movie together this evening.

"Halloween."

She looked at you with a confused expression, one that quickly turned to fear.

"I don't like scary movies." She reminded you with a whine.

"I know but it's Halloween. It's the perfect time to watch a scary movie. Please, baby?"

She watched your lips turn into a sad pout and she let out a sigh because you know every time you do that she always caves into whatever it is you're pouting about.

"We're at home, all the doors are locked, and we can snuggle under a blanket together."

"Alright, I'll watch it with you on one condition."

"Anything." You quickly said.

"You have to protect me if I get scared."

This time, she was the one to pout.

You couldn't say no to her so you agreed immediately.

"Well, I'd never say no to that. You know I'll always protect you." You promised as she leaned against you, pulling the fluffy blanket over both of you.

The movie started and Dahyun was curling up to you a little closer right away, finding the music unsettling, to say the least.

"It's okay." You whispered.

As your lips brushed against her head, she found herself feeling safe and secure and she began to relax a little.

But that didn't last very long.

As soon as she watched him pick the knife up in the movie, she whined and pulled the blanket up to her face.

"Don't worry, baby. I'm here."

She got through the first little while alright, even though she was still creeped out.

You ate the snack together, gave her a few soft kisses on her head anytime she jolted or seemed uncomfortable with a certain scary scene, and held her tight.

For a little while, she was okay and even told you that it wasn't all that bad.

But when he actually came on the screen and she saw that mask, a gasp left her lips and she pulled the blanket over her head.

"The mask is so creepy!" She mumbled under the blanket.

You chuckled and brought her closer.

"I know, it is."

Anytime she saw him on screen, whether that was a kill scene or just a glimpse of Michael, she would either pull the blanket over her face or bury her face in your sweater.

"This movie sucks."

"It's good. It's a classic!"

"It might be but it's so scary. How can you watch it without getting scared?"

"I've seen it quite a lot. It doesn't scare me all that much when I know everything that's coming. But had we watched something I didn't know as well as this, I wouldn't be able to protect you from the scary parts because I'd never know when they were coming." You explained.

"That's true. I just don't like scary movies. Besides, he's so creepy. That mask is terrifying."

"Would you rather watch child's play? You remember me telling you about that one, right? With the doll."

"Nope, this one is just fine!" She quickly replied and you chuckled before kissing her forehead.

She yelped as another scary part came on.

"Dahyun, baby, if you're too scared I won't keep it on. I can turn it off. It's no big deal."

"I know but it is Halloween, there's no better time for it than today. Besides, I know you like it and want to watch it and I want to spend time with you so I'll watch it with you. I'm not that scared."

You didn't quite believe her, especially since a loud gasp came on during the scene where Laurie fell down the stairs when Michael came out.

"Are you sure?"

You tucked a lock of hair behind her ear as she turned to look at you.

She nodded and set her head on your chest.

"Yeah. You're holding me to protect me and keep me safe from the scary masked killer on the TV. As scary as he is, I know I'm safe."

"Okay. It doesn't have too long until it's over."

She just nodded and kept her head on your chest, only feeling up to finishing it because she had you to hold onto.

And you didn't even mind when she almost ripped your shirt a few times from how tightly she was gripping it with her clenched fists nor did you mind her breath tickling your skin as she buried her face in your neck.

She felt safe with you.

And weren't going to let anything happen to her; not ever.
