The next morning, I rolled over to an empty room, blankets and pillows scattered around me. The first night in our own place, and I didn't even care that we spent it on the floor. Nothing else mattered, as long as I was with him.

Though.. a bed would be nice.

I forced myself up, wrapping one of our blankets around me as I made my way down the hall and into the kitchen area where I heard the key in the door, Jake walking in with two cups in hand.

"Oh, I wanted to surprise you." He said, placing them down on the counter, grabbing the blanket and pulling me into a quick kiss. "Well.. good morning." He said cheerfully, handing me one of the cups. "Don't worry, it's tea."

"Thank you." I took a sip, clutching the warm cup close to me, continuing to look around.
"How are you feeling?" He asked, leaning up against the counter. "Are you hurting like I am?" He laughed. I sighed, shaking my head.
"You're so dramatic." I laughed. "But.. we should go get a bed today."
"Thank god." He sighed, smirking back at me. "We can start.. picking up everything else too, right?" I nodded, going over next to him, leaning my head on his shoulder.

"So.." He started, giggling to himself. "Did I convince you?" I felt my cheeks burn, peeking up at him.
"You might have." I said softly, taking another sip. "But-"
"It's okay." He leaned down, kissing the top of my head. "I know I get a little ahead of myself. We can wait for our wedding."
"I already feel like I am married to you." I sighed. His smile grew.
"Then that's enough for me."

Later That Day

Jake clutched the shopping cart as we slowly strode down the aisle, his eyes skimming the shelves, hesitant to actually pick anything up.
"What are you thinking?" I giggled, gently hanging onto the cart, following him closely. He shrugged, peeking over at me.
"It's all just.. overwhelming." He sighed, his smile growing. "And.. we have to think in two's." I couldn't help but smile, gently placing one hand on my stomach, still not feeling anything. I had been a while since I had felt anything, but I didn't want to worry myself.
"Twice the fun." I sighed. He nodded, his smile growing.

"Oh my god, have diapers always been this expensive?" He said, picking up a pack. I nodded, giggling to myself.
"We've got plenty of time before we have to start thinking about that." I said, putting them back on the shelf. "Don't worry. Now.. what did you want to look at?" He bit down on his lip, trying to contain his smile.
"Oh no, I know that look." I laughed, following him closely as he lead me through the store towards the toy section.

"And what are we doing over here?" I joked. He made his way down the aisle, stopping at the toy instruments.
"Jake.." I laughed as he picked up a tiny guitar. "What did we say about pressuring them?" He shrugged, admiring it before peeking back over at me.
"If there just happens to be guitars in their bedroom by the time they're old enough to realize what they are.. and what they do.. well.. I don't see that as.. pressuring them." He said happily. I shook my head, my smile growing as I felt my heart beat faster.

He was so excited. I was just so.. lucky. There was no other word for it. I was the luckiest girl in the world.

"Fine." I sighed, grabbing another one, putting it into the shopping cart. "But you have to give them both a chance to see what they like. You can't build a tiny band out of them." He flashed me a toothy grin, pulling me in, kissing my forehead.
"Why not?" He asked. "It worked out great for us."

He wasn't wrong.

"And.. what are you gonna do if they have no interest in music?" I asked, slowly making my way down the aisle. He followed closely.
"What else is there?" He asked jokingly. I smirked back at him.
"What if.. they want to take photos?"
"Well, then they'll have the best teacher, no matter what they choose." He assured me, kissing me again. "Unless.. they choose something that's not those things. Then we're in trouble." He laughed.

"Jake, whatever they want, we'll figure it out."
"I just hope that.. I can be what they need." He said softly, his eyes scanning the shelves again. I stopped, taking his hand. He looked back over at me.
"You're going to be amazing. I have no doubt, just seeing you with Sophie-"
"But that's different, that's not.. it's just different. And.. I know everyone thinks we rushed into this and.. maybe they think it's crazy but.. I just.. I really want to prove them wrong. And.. I know I can, I'm just.. nervous."

I reached up, gently holding his face in my hands.
"If it makes you feel any better, knowing I'm doing this with you makes this so much easier for me. I'm just.. excited now. Because I know that together.. we're gonna be okay. More than okay." I said softly, pulling him into a gentle kiss. I felt his lips curl into a smile.
"That does make me feel better." He sighed. "Thank you."

He reached down, gently placing his hands on my stomach.
"No matter what you guys want to do, I will always be there to support you." He said softly. My heart jumped as I finally felt then move again, letting out a sigh of relief.

They loved him so much already.
They always moved for him.
I couldn't help but be a little jealous, but my heart melted every time.

"Is there anything else you want to look for?" I asked, guiding the cart through the aisles again. He shrugged, motioning back over towards the baby section. I followed him closely as he brought us back over to the clothes.

"They can wear whatever we want, right? It doesn't matter what they are." He said, flipping through the racks of tiny shirts ands pants. I nodded, leaning up against the cart, admiring him as he excitedly rummaged through the racks and shelves.

He pulled out a tiny beige sweater that read "Daddy's Little Rockstar" across the front. I rolled my eyes, flashing him a smile before motioning towards the cart.
"Of course we have to get that." I laughed. He nodded, grabbing another one, placing them on top of the guitars.

I looked through the racks of little girl clothes, covered in glitter and sparkles, bright pinks and purples, tutus and huge bows. I occasionally saw him peek over, giving me a gentle smile. I know how badly he wanted a girl. I hoped I could give that to him.

At least the odds were better this time.

"You can come look over here too." I said. His smile grew, his cheeks burning as he made his way over, flipping through the racks with me.
"I just.. I don't wanna be one of those dads that.. pushes for one over the other. You know I'm going to be happy regardless." He said, peeking down at me. I nodded, looking back up at him.
"I know. But.. you can still want what you want. That's okay."

"Do you still want a boy?" He asked. I shrugged.
"Only if it meant him looking like you." I said, feeling my cheeks burn. "I'll be happy with either. I feel lucky enough to have.. anything so.. I'm not going to get picky." I giggled, picking up a deep purple sweater. He smirked over at me.
"So.. is that berry?" He asked. I couldn't help but laugh, nodding.
"Yes, this would be berry." I said.
"That really is a good color." He said softly, continuing to flip through the rack. I grabbed another one, and placed them into the shopping cart.

"You know, all this baby talk, we can't forget to get things for ourself." I laughed, pushing the cart towards the bedding section. He quickly caught up, playfully moving me aside, pushing the cart for me.
"Jake.." I laughed. He shook his head, avoiding my eyes.
"Mhm?" He managed, looking through the sheets. "What size do we want?" He asked, trying to change the subject.
"I'd say the bigger the better." I laughed. He nodded.
"You're right.." He sighed, grabbing a pack of king size sheets. "After living on a bus, I think we deserve it."

I reached over, grabbing two more packs.
"What are you doing?" He asked. I looked back at him, confused.
"What do you mean?"
"We need three?" I shook my head, rolling my eyes.
"Oh, you've got a lot to learn, Jake."
