"How about my on going project dad?" I asked him. Nakatayo ako sa harap niya at siya naman ay prenteng nakaupo sa swivel chair niya.
"It will be managed by me now."
"Pero.." halo halo na ang nasa utak ko. I didn't expect this. I didn't expect a memo from him about me stepping down the CEO position of our company, instead, I'll be the COO and the new director of the University that my dad has been managing for 40 years.
"Just try it son. Maybe you'll like it. Kung ayaw mo parin after a couple of months then ibanalik kita dito and I'll let your brother manage it instead."
"Wala akong alam sa ganyan dad. Mangangapa nanaman ako." I said frustratedly. I studied in America for 10 years at hindi ko alam kung paano ba ang sistema ng education dito.
"I'll train you for a week then i'm sure kaya mo na yun. It's easy don't worry son." he said calmly. Napabuntong hininga nalang ako at tumango. I know from the very start that I can't persuade him to cancel my transfer but I just tried my luck.
After a week, gaya ng sabi ni dad, after he thought me the basics, hindi na niya ko sinamahan sa university. I'm on my own now. Fuck! I sounded like a kindergarten kid who's going to school alone for the first time.
Speaking of first time, I'm gonna look around the university for the first time. Dad already toured me around the education building which is where my office is located and also the faculty. They all met me and good thing they are all nice.
Now, I'm on my 5th building which is also the last one. I went to the 6th floor and no one's here. I expected it already because only the auditorium and sound system room are here. But to my surprise, I saw a girl sitting infront of the auditorium. She's reading a book but I think she noticed me. Instead of looking at my direction, she got something on her bag and when i'm already near her she suddenly stood up and pointed a pepper spray right infront of my face.
"S-sino ka?" She stuttered and she can't even look straight into my eyes. Her hands are shaking too.
"Put down the spray. I'm no harm." I said. Unti unti niya yun binaba. I arched my brows when I saw doubt in her eyes but I just walk passed her. I can still feel her stares until I reach the end of the hallway.
There are still 2 floors left for this building but instead of going up, I went down and hurried my way to my office. Some staffs are greeting me but I just nodded since I'm in a hurry.
I typed my password on my computer and immediately clicked the CCTV tabs that are connected to my system and clicked the one on the 6th floor of that building. She's still there, sitting while reading her book.
Nanonood lang ako until a guy appeared, I saw the girl looked at him and they talked and later on she stood up and walked until I can't see her. Nataranta naman ako and I looked at the keyboard and clicked the right arrow pero hindi gumalaw yung camera.
Fuck! How do you move this? I can't see her!
"Kuya andyan na si Ate!" I looked down and saw Sean looking at me with excitement.
I tapped his head. "Thank you Sean." and I smiled. Ngumiti din siya and sat beside Roanna.
"Kalmahan mo lang ah. Bawal umiyak." I heard Casper, my best man, whispered. Titignan ko na sana siya ng masama nang onti onting bumukas ang pinto mula sa bahay nila Danica.
And there I saw the love of my life. The woman that owns my heart and the only woman who I wanna spend my life with.
I saw the evident shock on her face when she looked around and when our gaze finally met, a tear fell from her eye. I was about to go near her but Casper held my arm. "Gago kalmahan mo lang sabi! Ang bride ang lalapit sa groom.."
I saw the organizer went near her and handed her a bouquet of flowers and placed an elbow length veil on her head. She motioned the white carpet then Danica started to walk slowly. I can see her tears but she's smiling at the people around her. Nang nasa gitna na siya, she kissed her parents cheeks and they had a little conversation then later on they started walking. I can see her mother wiping her tears and his father has teary eyes.
When they are already infront of me, I bowed at nagmano. "Thank you tito." I said when he gave me Danica's hands. "Thank you tita."
"Nanay at tatay nalang din hijo." her mother said. I smiled and nodded.
"I promise to take care and love Danica and our future children with all my heart, nanay." I looked at her mother and she nodded. "tatay." then to her father who also nodded.
Now, I looked at my soon to be wife who's smiling but tears are rolling down her eyes. I held her hand and pulled her closer to me. Inangat ko paloob sa veil niya ang kamay ko at pinunasan ang luha niya.
"Why are you crying, our baby momma?" malambing kong sabi. I even heard Casper snorted as if suppressing his laugh but I didn't mind him.
"I'm just surprised... and overwhelmed. Thank you for this Connor." she said. I nodded while smiling. "Akala ko after ko manganak tayo ikakasal?"
Yun ang napag usapan namin one time dahil sabi niya she doesn't want to have a big tummy while walking down the aisle. And she said she also want our child to be the little bride or groom. But..
"I just can't wait baby. We will still have that wedding after you give birth but for now I just really wanna marry you and I can't let a day pass without you carrying my name."
Natawa naman siya ng mahina bago tumango. We both faced the priest and I helped her with her dress and the ceremony started.
I can't even focus. I kept looking at her because she's just too beautiful and I can't believe that in just a few hours I'll be married to the first woman who pointed a pepper spray to me.
I laughed at that thought na kumuha ng pansin ni Danica. She looked at me curiously but I just smiled at her.
"Do you Connor Felix Montecillo , take this woman to be your wedded wife, to love her, comfort her, honor and keep her, in sickness and in health, in sorrow and in joy, to have and to hold, from this day forward, as long as you both shall live?"
"I do."
"Do you Danica Monique Saraga , take this man to be your wedded husband, to love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health, in sorrow and in joy, to have and to hold, from this day forward, as long as you both shall live?"
"I do, father."
"I now pronounce Connor Montecillo and Danica Saraga, husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride."
I faced Danica with teary eyes. Inangat ko ang veil niya and I almost lost my consciousness when I saw her smile. Fuck! This woman is now my wife!
"Our first kiss as husband and wife." she said. I nodded, trying not to cry.
"Finally baby." I held her cheeks and leaned forward to claim her lips. Hindi ko na napigilan ang luha ko nang magtagpo ang labi namin.
I'm one hell of a lucky bastard.
