Ashton
"Ash." My brother calling my name did nothing but send me deeper under my covers.
"Ashton." He called again.
"Asht-"
"Bro fuck off!" I yelled just as Adrian opens my bedroom door.
"Ashton Jo!" I uncovered my face and looked in my doorway to see my brother standing with his hands on his hips and his eyebrow raised. He looked like a white, suburban mom.
This motherfucker.
"If you don't get your ass out of bed!"
The little giggle I gave up was enough to encourage him to run and jump on top of me which pulled an absolutely ungodly sounding groan out of my body. Adrian sat up and looked at me for a moment before we both bursted into laughter.
"It's nice to hear you laughing again." He smiled.
"Yeah it was nice well it lasted," I rolled my eyes earning a questionable look from Adrian, "come on Dee, you've gotta stop treating like I'm five!"
Adrian started out of my bedroom door but, froze in the doorway.
"Speaking of that, I got someone to come stay with you while I'm gone."
With that I was wide awake.
"That is, if you're still ok with me going on tour, I mean I can stay if you want me to, honestly just say the wor-"
"Adrian," I cut him off, "do you mean to tell me that you got me a babysitter?".
"Uhm, yeah andhe'llbehereinaboutanhoursogetdressedokbyeee."
Before I could even respond Adrian was already down the stairs.
He always did that when he knew I wouldn't like what he had to say. He'd drop the bomb and run away without giving me the chance to react. It was a smart tactic but, it was also annoying as hell.
After about 5 more minutes, I pulled myself out of bed and across the hallway to the bathroom, stripped out of my clothing, and hopped in the shower. I stared singing along to Drew Barrymore by Bryce Vine as I applied shampoo and conditioner.
Ain't now where I would rather be
Right between your holidays
Coffee on the flintstone
Jewelry on the ottoman-
My flawless karaoke session was then rudely interrupted by a knock on the bathroom door.
"Ash."
I turned the water off, stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around my body before I reply, "What?"
"Hey my buddy's gonna be here in like 5," Adrian called out, "maybe wrap it up?"
Was I really in the shower for that long?
I guess I usually am but, that's because I'm usually curled up in a ball, on the floor, in complete darkness but, today didn't really permit the time for that so, I'll save it for later.
"Got it, I just need like 2 minutes," I replied as I scrunched my curls with a cotton t-shirt and ran back to my room to change into my outfit for a day (in the photo above)

AndyIt took me longer than it should to get to Adrian's which had absolutely nothing to do with my ego... Ok I'll admit, that the first half of the drive consisted of me refusing to use the GPS because I was sure that I remembered how to get there. I had been to Adrian's house before but, only once and, it was when we first met.
As I pulled into a long, white-cement driveway my phone started to ring.
"Ello?" I answered in a goofy British accent
"You'd think, with all the shows you've played in the U.K, that you're accent would be just a little better yeah?" Adrian chuckled
"You don't like my accent?" I asked now pretending to be offended instead of pretending to be British.
"Can't say I do."
"Ah boo," I feigned disappointment as I stepped out of my car and took my sunglasses off of my face, "listen I'm walking up to your front door right now brother I'll see you in a sec."
"Alright bet." Adrian responded before hanging up the phone.
I walked up two steps to the front door and knocked twice.
Here goes nothing.
