Ashton

I stepped through the front door and was met with silence.

That's weird. It's almost 2 and Adrian's car is in the driveway.

I ignored the strange feeling in my gut as I went to my room to grab my backpack, a duffle bag and, all the things I would need for myself. I wasn't really ready to talk to Adrian. I had just come for my shit but, I couldn't shake the feeling something was wrong. So, I went out and put my bags in Andy's car before going back into the house.

"Adrian," I called as I started checking around, "Dee come on. I know you think I'm being stupid. We should just talk about it."

I opened the bathroom door.

Nothing.

I went downstairs to check the basement.

Nothing.

I walked back up to the second floor and approached my brother's bed room door.

"Adrian." I knocked.

No response.

Fuck it.

I opened the door to find Adrian passed out on his bed.

That's weird.

Adrian was a morning person meaning he was always up at the crack of fucking dawn. I ignored the odd occurrence and began to shut his door before I caught a glance of a substance on his desk.

I shouldn't have come back inside. I should've just got back in Andy's car and, driven back to his apartment.

My eyes started to tear up as I took in the white, powdery substance that was formed in a straight line with a creased dollar bill lying next to it. I stormed out of Adrian's bedroom and slammed his door behind me. I knew it would wake him up but, I kept walking anyway.

"Ashton?" Adrian said confused before he realized I knew something he didn't want me to know.

"Don't worry I was just coming to get my clothes."

"Shit, Ash wait!" He said racing after me.

"What?" I asked stopping by the front door to turn and look at him.

"Talk to me."

"No," I snapped, "you talk to me."

I took a step closer to the brother I thought I knew, "All those lectures. All those years of you drilling it into my head that shit like that will kill you. The whole reason you never wanted me on the road with you. Everything you've preached for as long as I can remember is just- bullshit."

"No, I," Adrian stuttered, "I can stop if I want."

I chuckled dryly, "Is this why you've been a complete douchebag for the last few months?"

"I haven't-" He started before I cut him off.

"How long?"

"Ashton I-"

"How. Long."

"Well if you'd let me-"

"Adrian," I yelled, "how long?"

Adrian moved his focus to the floor before he responded.

"About," He started, "I don't know. Since probably the first week of tour is the first time I tried it."

I opened the front door and was outside within 2 seconds.

"Ashton- wait!"

"No," I sighed getting into the drivers seat of Andy's car, "you know when you started acting weird I blamed myself?"

I let out a few tears before speaking again.

"I thought that you hated me for what I did," I cried, "and I hated myself because of it. My heart was broken but, now I know that I'm not the fucking idiot. You are."

Adrian kept yelling my name but, I ignored him as I twisted the key in the ignition and, backed out of the driveway.
