CHAPTER 22: Temperature Of The Heart

Steve open the blinds of my room and the sunlight strikes my face that woke me up. I slowly stand up and arrange my messed up hair. "It's already 8 am sir Xav, you need to go to the Cafe" I stood up, grab my working clothes and enter the shower room. Afterwards, I eat the food that Steve prepared for me. I hurriedly grab the washing gloves at hinugasan ang mga pinagkainan ko. Steve look at me and said, "Ako na diyan bro" he said that also stopped me. Right. I remember, there will be no Abbi that will shout at me if I won't do the dishes.

I slowly put the gloves at the sink and let out a sigh. Umalis ako sa kusina at kinuha ang mga papeles that I need for that Cafe today. Maya-maya, bumalik ako sa kusina and saw Steve washing the dishes. Bigla kong inagaw sa kaniya ang gloves at sponge at pinatuloy ang panghuhugas. "I think, I can't go to work without washing the dishes" I awkwardly said to Steve. Steve suddenly burst out laughing kaya I throw some bubbles to his face.

When I finished doing the dishes, lumabas na kami ni Steve sa bahay to go to work when someone grab my attention. It was the guy I saw with Abbi and Nikka yesterday. Now, Abbi and him are talking sweetly at the bench. They're laughing casually as if they've known each other for too long. My eyes suddenly fires up while staring at them. Is Abbi freaking close to all the boys here in the island?

I felt a slight push from the back. I look at Steve whom push me and fired up my burning eyes. He step a back when he saw my expression in my face. He suddenly look at the direction that I was looking and smiled a little bit. "Sir, we're going to be late" Steve said while switching his attention to his watch. I composed myself and fix my expression. "Let's go" I replied shortly.

We walk outside the gate and pagdating namin sa sasakyan. I asked Steve for the keys. "I'll drive" sabi ko sa kaniya. He look for the keys at ibinigay ito sa akin. Sumakay na kami sa sasakyan at pinaandar ko ito. When we are near Abbi's position, I honk the car's horn so loud and saw Abbi and the guy jump from being surprised. Nanlaki ang mga mata ni Abbi when he saw Steve and me driving past them. Nagulat din si Steve sa ginawa ko but I just smiled evily. Deserved.

Steve just shook his head while laugh a little for my childish act. Pinaandar ko ng mabilis ang sasakyan and after some minutes we have arrive to the Cafe. Actually, the Cafe is running smoothly right now. We still don't have that big profit but at least nabawi ko ang mga loses ng Cafe for the past years. Pinagbuksan ako ng mga staff and greeted me as always. I walk straight to the office and do my job. I didn't bother the time kaya nagulat ako when a staff knock on my door and told me to eat lunch. Kaya I stood up, leave my work and go downstairs for lunch.

When I was walking downstairs, two familiar figure caught my attention. They are sitting at the beach near the Cafe. I hurriedly walk downstairs at lumapit sa glass wall ng Cafe na nakaharap sa kanilang direksiyon. I grab my phone at the pocket and open my camera. I zoom the cam and yes, it was Abbi and that f*cking guy yesterday and earlier. I felt some laser came out my eyes. Unbelievable.

Tumayo si Abbi at tumayo din ito ang lalaki, Abbi suddenly loses balance and that guy perfectly wrapped his hands to her. I felt my chest tightened kaya I grabbed my necktie and loosen it up. "Excuse me sir, your lunch is set" sabi ng staff sa akin but my eyes are fixed to those two lovey doves. "Sir?" sabi ulit ng staff kaya humarap ako sa kaniya with glaring eyes na ikinagulat niya. "Are you okay sir? Parang nilalagnat ka po" he innocently asked to me. I looked at him more furiously and said, "Palakasin mo nga ang air-conditioner, it's so hot here" sabi ko then walk towards the table where my lunch is set.

Umupo ako and grab the utensils to start my meals and I remember I need to pray before eating kaya I drop the utensils and bow my head for a short prayer. Kinuha ko ulit ang utensils and start slicing the meat with force and anger na parang minassacre ko ang meat kaya sina Karlo and Steve are looking at each other trying to figure out what I am doing right now. I grab a piece and harshly chew it on my mouth. A staff hurriedly give me water nang mabulunan ako ng kinakain kong meat. Karlo run towards me and tap my back and I just saw Steve playfully laughing at me.
