CHAPTER 31: A Waves Of Thoughts

I slowly tap Abbi's back to wake her up. She opened her eyes kaya I assisted her na bumangon sa couch and reached my hand to fix her hair. She just smiled at me while directly looking at my face. It's already 8 am. She stand up and woke her friend Nikka. I stand up and prepare some coffee for me and Nikka and a milk for Abbi. A nurse entered the room and check Steve and give us the medicine that Steve needs to take for this day. When I finished preparing the drinks, dinala ko ito to Nikka and Abbi. I handed them out the cup and they received it and thanked me for what I prepared.

I sit next to Abbi and tap my phone to make food deliveries. Abbi started to have a conversation with Nikka. "Mas mabuti siguro Niks if ngayon ka pupunta sa city upang ayusin ang problema mo about sa school niyo" she said. Nikka take a sip on her coffee and nodded to Abbi as a response. "Sige, gagawin ko iyon. I will fix it as soon as I can and babalik ako dito for us to have a trip, okay?" maligaya nitong sabi kay Abbi. Abbi formed a smile on her lips and gently nodded back to Nikka.

The food delivery guy knocked the door and entered at binigay sa amin ang pagkain na binili ko. I paid for the food and put it on the table. Abbi and Nikka started to prepare the food and after a minute, pumasok din ang isang nurse for Steve's food. Nikka received the food and wake up Steve para pakainin ito. While serving Steve the food, Nikka and Steve talked about Nikka's temporarily coming back to the city to fix her personal problem.

Abbi called my attention and asked me to sit down and eat. I walk towards her and sit. She then give me a spoon and fork at agad na kaming nagsimulang kumain. After eating, Nikka decided to go home to pack her things kaya naiwan lang kami ni Abbi sa silid. Steve grab a book and nagbasa kaya i took Abbi's attention and said, "Let's go get some air" she gently nod her head and smiled. Nagpaalam kami kay Steve na lumabas muna and we asked a nurse to guard him. I hold Abbi's hand while we are walking towards the exit and she is just smiling while walking. I lead her to my car and open up the door of the vehicle to let her in.

She sat down and I move my body closer to her to put her seatbealt. She move back a little bit dahil nagulat siya sa biglaan kong paglapit but I just smiled to her cute reaction. After putting her seatbealt, I kiss her forehead and smiled at her. She smiled at me back and her face started to blush. She's so cute. I close the door and rush towards the driver's side. I open the door and sat down inside the vehicle, closes the door and starts the vehicle. I drove off towards the beach, yung part ng beach na malapit lang sa cafe. I parked the car when we arrived and open Abbi's door to let her out of the vehicle.

She smiled widely when she saw the ocean. It was perfect because the breeze is quite warm and strong, and hindi masyadong mainit ngayon. She walk fast towards the ocean so I hurriedly run towards her. "Be careful Abbi" I said to her while she is enjoying the small waves rushing towards the sea shore. "Halika dito" she said while calling me waving her hands on the air. Pumunta naman ako kaagad sa kaniya at hinawakan siya sa beywang. Nagulat siya dahil sa ginawa ko kaya agad niya akong itinulak ng mahina. I move closer to her again and reached for her waist and pull her closer to me. "Why are you avoiding your boyfriend?" I directly asked to her. She just blushed and smiled shyly. "It's just... it's my first time" she said while turning her attention to something else.

I pulled her more closer to mine kaya tumama ang forehead niya sa chin ko. I just laughed and hinawakan ang forehead niya. "I'm so sorry for that" I said while carefully tapping her forehead to ease the pain. A huge wave rushed towards us kaya hinila niya ako palayo sa tubig. Napatawa lang ako sa ginawa niya. She hold my hand and umupo kami sa tabing-dagat. I notice that her jeans are wet, so I reached for it and folded it upwards.

"Xavier, may tanong ako" she suddenly said seriously while looking at the horizon. "Hmmm, what is it?" I responded while folding the other side of her jeans. "Bago paman kita binigyan ng chance, I revealed it to you na may karamdaman ako, but why did you still want to pursue me?" she said, still looking at the horizon while her hair is blown away by the constant sea breeze. I sat down comfortably and look at her face."I realized that I started to need you in my life" I responded. She slowly turned her head towards me and look at me directly to my eyes. She smiled genuinely and said, "You know, we should do my bucket list, Xav" nakangiti nitong sabi sa akin. And then, a thought came into my mind. She wanted me and my Dad to fix our relationship.

I nodded as a response to her even though the chance is so slim. She raised her pinky finger and said, "You should promise" she said while raising my hand and intertwined her pink fingers to mine. She smiled at me and ibinaba ang kamay naming dalawa. "By the way" bigla niyang sabi while standing up and may kinuha na bagay sa kaniyang pocket. "Your dad left this during your birthday" sabi niya while handing me a key that is unfamiliar to me. It's quite classy and old. Tinanggap ko naman ito mula kay Abbi at umupo siya ulit sa tabi ko. "What do you mean my Dad give it to you?" I asked. "Alam mo, nakita ko kayo ng Dad niyo sa labas ng bahay mo noong kaarawan mo. He accidentally fall dahil madulas ang daan kaya I came to him at tinulungan siya. I offered him to stay for a while sa bahay upang magpatuyo" she said while playing the sand on her hand. I suddenly grab her shoulders and face her. "Did he told you something?"

Abbi just shrugged her shoulders and said, "Wala naman. He just asked me to buy you a cake. Naalala mo yung cake na binigay ko sa iyo noong kaarawan mo, it was from him" nanlaki ang mga mata ko ng marinig ko iyon from Abbi. "You should have told me" I acted up. She look at me and nagsalita, "Sabihin ko sa iyo tapos ano, tatangihan mo dahil galing ito sa Dad mo? Alam mo Xav, your Dad is doing efforts to bring you back to him. Is it really impossible na bigyan mo ng chance ang Dad mo at ang sarili mo na ayusin niyo ang relationship niyo?" I slowly turned away from her and focus my attention to the sea.

"I never liked to celebrate my birthday. Because it was also the worst part of my life. I really hate how my dad and stepmom happily celebrated my birthday when my mom passed away on the same day" I said to her in a low voice. I feel a hand on my back and saw Abbi moving closer to me. "Alam kong gusto din ng Mom mo na maging masaya ka Xav. Magpakalaya ka sa mga sakit na dulot ng nakaraan. Your mom wants you to be happy at ayaw niyang mananatili ka nalang na nakatali sa nakaraan. She wanted you to move on and live your life" she said while slowly tapping my shoulders.

"But it's not as easy as everyone thought. It's easy to heal the wound but the scar will never disappear" I said while slowly feeling an extreme sadness. "Naiintindihan kita Xav, because I've been there. Alam ko din kung gaano kasakit mawalan ng mahal sa buhay kaya naiintindihan kita" Abbi whispers as she reassured me with her words and her hug comforted me despite the current sadness that I'm feeling. "Kaya panahon na siguro na magpatawad ka Xav, free your heart. Dahil hindi ka magiging masaya kung may mabigat na bagay na nagpipigil sa puso mo na maging masaya" she added. That's why I've been so thankful when Abbi arrived on my life. She changes how I view the world and she taught me a lot of things.

I reached my hand on her face and caress it. She smiled at me and I slowly move my head towards her and gently touch my lips to her. "I love you Abbi" I whispered as our lips parted away. When she heard it, her eyes widened because she never expected to hear those words from my lips. I intertwined her fingers to mine and we walk slowly on the beach and feel this moment that we have together.
