The fresh air and the mountains was exactly what Derek thought that he needed to get his mind off of Meredith. He and Mark had driven out to their same fishing spot for the weekend and Derek still couldn't stop thinking about Meredith. He hadn't spoken to her since she left his office with Brad, going back to him and what was left of their marriage.

"You're scaring the fish away." Mark sipped at his beer before placing it back on the small cooler tray.

"I'm not doing anything." Derek rolled his eyes, finishing his second beer and tossing the can to the side before reaching for another one.

"You're thinking about Meredith." Mark knew his friend.

"I've been thinking about Meredith for the past three years. What else is new?"

"That's sick man."

"It doesn't matter anymore."

"Why?" Mark groaned.

"She went back to him." Derek couldn't even say the name.

"Wait." Mark looked up from his fishing pole. "I didn't tell her he was coming back because I didn't want him to go near her and she went back to the bastard?"

"She went back to him." Derek repeated, the words making him feel sick.

"She took him back?" Mark lowered his head before snapping back up.

"How many times are you going to make me say it?" Derek groaned before drinking his beer.

"I thought an affair...a trip to Hawaii and knocking her unconscious would send her packing but..."

"As far as I know, they're together...and working on things."

'You should have fucked her. It would have knocked some sense into her."

"Yeah...well, you're not the only one who thinks so..."

"I'm not? You two did it didn't you?"

"No...almost but no."

"Almost?" Mark bit the inside of his cheek as his infamous smirk appeared.

"Almost..." Derek sighed. "But we didn't."

"Couldn't get your soldier to report for duty?"

"No...that definitely wasn't a problem."

'Then why almost?"

"Because she's married."

"In my experience...that hasn't stopped me. Especially with the rat bastard is cheating on her too."

"That doesn't make it anymore right for her to do it." Derek sighed, stepping on one of the empty beer cans. "No matter how much I wanted it."

"So...did you see her naked?"

"Close..."

"How did she look?"

"Mark." Derek groaned, rolling his eyes.

"We're alone with fish now tell me what she looked like."

"Amazing." He breathed.

"So just almost sex or...did you get to touch anything?" Mark was a pig, he was well aware but he wasn't about to let Derek get away without the details.

"I...yeah..."

"And you were really able to stop yourself from having sex with her?" Mark asked, looking at him as if he was insane.
